trolling motor whistles

anyone have the experience of having their trolling motor whistle? I have a Minnkota bow mount 40# thrust that just started to whistle at lower speeds. Is this something I need to worry about, or something I'm going to just have to live with? It is annoying. The motor is only about 4 years old, and really has'nt been used that much.

Not your normal drone?
Does it pulse or is it a constant?
A pulse might mean a bent shaft or out of wack prop. a constant squeal might be a bearing or bushing.

just a constant mono-tone whistle. gets a little higher pitched when the speed is increased

aldar. just out of curriousity? pull the prop to see if you may have wrapped something around the shaft. del

I had a buddy that had the same thing and it was on a unit that was about that old too! I remember it whistled just as you described, and I know that when he took it in they told him that some of them just whistled, and they couldn't fix it. I hope this is not the case with you, but I thought I would just share his experience. To this day he still fishes with it and it still whistles.

I had a feeling that it might be some thing that I'll just have to live with. I'll check it over again to see if I might have missed some thing. Thanks for the reponses

You should teach it to whistle a tune
