low oil warning on 75hp Mariner

fivebucks

Question

I've got a 1990 or'91 Mariner 75hp tiller and this weekend my low oil warning went off. No big deal, I just filled the resevoir as I had done many times in the past. The problem is the warning buzzer still is going off. I haven't run the motor too much since but it still runs fine and I can still see the good old 2 stroke blue smoke. Any ideas? Are there sensors that stick sometimes?

Darn it. I was hoping there would be an easy test I could do at home. Oh well, I guess it's off to the boat repair place and hopefully get it back b/4 the 4th weekend. Thanks for the replies.

I had the same problem with a 1993 60hp Mecury two years ago. If you drain the oil resevoir it real easy to change. You can also disconnect or jumper it out to prove its bad. I cant remember what it cost?

Just a note to let anyone know what was wrong here in case you come across the same deal. The float in my oil resevoir went bad and would not float. I drained the oil and could lift up the float and no buzzer. I then put oil back in but the float wouldn't float again. So anyhow I bought a new oil resevoir for about $30 and it's as good as new. I sure do love it when the fixes work out this way.
