strikemaster not starting.

I have an older strickmaster. When I pull the starter cord the engine will not turn over and run. However, I sprayed some starter fluid into the carborator ( I think ), through the hole where the spark plug is inserted, and pulled the cord. The engine will start and run for a second or so and quit. So basically the starter fluid is burning to fire up the engine and then once burnt the engine will not fire. assume the spark plug is good or the starter fluid would not ignite, correct. I believe it's new.

Being mechanically retarded, I have no idea what I need to repair or what would be causing this issue. Does anybody have any suggestions for me?

If you live or are going near Big Lake birng it in to the shop and they will take care of you...otherwise I have no clue....

#1 .. dont spray any more starting fluid in there... its a good way to cause serious damage.

Your carb is gummed up somewhere. If you have a friend that tinkers with engines at all, they should be able to clean it out, or put a rebuild kit in it.

If your in the metro and dont know anyone, I can help you out. Otherwise any small engine shop will be able to service it. It usually can be taken care of in about an hour(once they get to it), sometimes the parts have to sit in carb cleaner overnight.

The spark plug hole is on the head and the head is bolted onto the cylinder. The gas tank has a fuel line that goes to

the carb. If that line is good(no cracks) then make sure your using the choke, its the lever attached to the carb. It should be closed when starting a cold engine. If that doesn't do the trick you should bring it in.

I would suggest you bring it to D-Rock they are certified strike master service center. Sounds like your carb is gummed up they can quickly repair with carb kit
