Not much talk going on in here. Everyone been busy? Hows the fishing been? With the recent cold temps were making some good ice here in the northern part of the state. Finally the panfish seem to be on a feeding frenzy. The last 3 trips out has been none stop action on the bluegills for us. Several in the 8" to 8 1/2" range. Doing good with ratso's, ants and demons with waxies over weedbeds in the 8 to 10 foot range. The kids(me included) are having a blast.

Rabbit hunting has been slow. The rabbits are there we just haven't hit the right day. Have been seeing some grouse, deer and ducks around. My 4 year old son found a 4point rack. So hes been telling everyone he bagged his first buck. Hows your winter going?

Funny you mention the panfish action picked up - its been good lately for my pa and now is finally slowing down. Been busy lately myself chasing yotes - calling a few evenings and runnin them with hounds on the weekends, now that we finally got some snow.

Spending time preparing for the musky opener, plus I got a small lake with some big northerns I want to hit in May between the opener and musky season. Always trying to find or make that 'secret, magical' lure.

Should be some healthy deer next fall with the mild winter.

I've only been out twice in the last three weeks. Been fishing a small lake in central Douglas co. and doing O.K. on crappies but they've running alittle on the small size. Going to try the channel by Barkers on Saturday afternoon for eyes if mother nature lets me.

How the new digs Ran? gettin used to the country life yet?

We'll have to meet at Rapids sometime for a beverage.

I've only been out fishing twice all winter. Caught one 'pout on the river, and a whole mess of bluegills with outdoorran. But now I have that new Marcum I have to get out a bunch before the ice is gone.

Jar Jar, how's the fishing been at Barkers? I was thinking of trying it this weekend myself.

I haven't heard of much but seeing all the tents out there every night on my way home makes me want to give it a shot.

I don't think we will be able to get out behind Mcdonalds this year. The bay was open there last weekend.

Country life is good. Can't wait for spring to get outside and enjoy the yard.

I've heard its been slow by Barkers but it sure makes you feel like your missing something when you drive by and see 10 shacks out there. If wal and I go we'll just go out from Barkers on Sat. afternoon. Maybe we'll see you there Jar. Were thinking of hitting the crappie hole in Billings before hand.

Wal, maybe we should give that Casolma guy a call and see if he wants to go grin.gif

Jim, wal and I were just talking the other day that we would like to get over there for some fishing since the ice is getting better. I'll have to see if we can borrow his brothers sled. Some cohos sound mighty tasty.

I figured you would be a full time guide by now. Still got that other job still huh grin.gif

Randy

Well if you guys ever want to come down and fish with me, I have two sleds. One guy could jump on the back of mine and the other can ride the other. Just would have to meet me here at home to help me load the other up.

Probably wont be able to do that trip until March though. Pretty busy the end of this month.

There is ice everywhere I look out my window today on the big lake. Hopefully it can stick with the winds that are predicted.

hey jim, i was thinking of heading that way either tommorrow or saturday, depending on when my sled gets out of the shop.....for the second time mad.gif I was just wondering if anyone was getting out to any decent laker water or where the best salmon/brown/splake bite was taking place. If you want to give it a shot with me (and @most likely porter) shoot me an e-mail at [email protected]. If we make any plans i'll be sure to give you a call and let you know whats up.

We'll be heading down by Barkers between 2-3 o'clock on Saturday. My buddy was down there yesterday and they got two fish, one 15-1\2 eye and a 5lb northern but he had to leave by 1:00 to go to work. Lots of fish on the graph. Hopefully this cold snap will let go pretty soon.
