MAPCREATE™ USA Topo 6.3 SOFTWARE

Has anyone used this software from Lowrance with the Lowrance H20C GPS? Is it worth the extra money? Just curious for hunting trips and other travling.

You can download GDM6 for free off the Lowrance HSOforum. It is a very stripped down version of MapCreate, I use it to manage and transfer waypoints. You can zoom in but once you get close, like inside of 100 or 500 miles or something like that, they stop showing all of the base map detail. Depending on what you want to do with it you might want to look at it before you drop the cash for MapCreate. Good luck, hope this helps.

I got it with my HuntC and love the fact that it shows the public lands. Also way more detail then the old maps.

I got the TOPO version with my H2Oc. I enjoy the amout of detail available. I drive for a living and for the most part the road and POI info is accurate. Info is probabaly about 4 yrs old for in our area. If your looking for a particular address you can lay the cross-hairs on the road and it pops up the house number it's sitting on. I went to a local sport store and was comparing Navionics to Lakemaster and I noticed that the road detail on Lakemaster looked to be exactly the same as Mapcreate.So if its just the Minnesota roads you want that's all you need. If you get it just dont expect it to be perfect though. I had the idea that my cursor would always follow the road your traveling on exactly but it wanders a bit. Refered to in a previous thread as "offroading". Overall I'm glad I got it. I don't have the Lakemaster yet so I do a poorman's version. I print out the DNR map, lay it over my computer screen with the Mapcreate software up and put the cross-hairs on the spot I like and I get the coordinates. Puts me in the general area. Roadtrips will also be nice as you can set up a corridor route to your destination.

Redbandit's comments are right on. The Lakemaster MN chip has the Mapcreate information for Minnesota. I got the Mapcreate with my Ifinder because I wanted more detailed maps than the base map provides for hunting in the Dakotas and also traveling the country on family vacations. The point of interest information is very nice for finding wayside rests for bio breaks, restaurants, gas stations, etc. Plus with the cardreader it is very easy to update the gps's software when updates come out.
