How long will battery last in fish house?

mnhunter2

Question

I have 5 3" computer fans that have led lights in them and 3 1156 12v bulbs running off a year old 12v deep cycle battery 120/80, first time out the battery lasted about 10 hrs and accoarding to the new smart battery charger that it was fully charged. I did check the water and it was about a cup low and refilled it and have recharged it, was wondering how long it should last?

If you had all of those things running off of one battery the whole 10 hours I would say you are doing something right. My furnace ignition and fan run off battery and with the fan running constantly when it's cold the battery goes dead in about 6 hours. If I warm up the house first and the thermostat just has to keep the house up to temp it will last 10 to 12 hrs. I run a seperate battery for my lights. 2 12v lights run down my battery in about 6 to 8 hrs.

Walterwontf...

Them 12V (50 Watt) bulbs eat up the juice. They provide great light but they suck the batteries dry.

The 1156 bulbs in the 1st post I believe are rated around 10 watts.. they are the standard back up lamps, single filament turn signal bulb, or coversion van dome lights(older)..

I dont remember how long a couple 1156 bulbs will go on a battery. I did have a couple in my old fish house and I would make it a night of fishing with them, or a couple evenings, but the battery did require charging regularly.

The fans.. no way to know how long they will run without knowing the current draw. If these are little computer type fans, they dont draw much current.

I have 2 camper 12 volt lights, 1 computer fan and a portable 12v 6" fan from fleet farm. With everything running on the deep cycle it will last me just over one night. That wasn't enough for me because I go up to Mille Lacs for 3-4 nights at a time and don't want to haul that many batteries around. So, now I only run the 2 fans off the battery and I just use the 12v lights as backup for when the rattle reels scream in the wheee hrs of the night, and the rest of the time for lighting I just use my lantern. I can run just the fans for the 4 day's straight, keeps a nice even temp in the house. Works great now.
