Help with a truck topper question!!!!!!!

wastewaterguru

Question

I am a moron.

Now that I have that established.............

Does anyone know where to get a new rear hatch/glass etc. for a Leer Topper??

I managed to try to back out of my garage with the topper hatch open and I just about ripped it completely off my truck. The topper itself appears to be fine, but the rear hatch is destroyed including the frame, hinge, hydraulic cylinders, and obviously the glass.

Anyone know where a guy can find parts or has anyone had a similar brain fart??????

You may want to get an estimate and check with your insurance company. I have a Glasstite topper and I hooked my rear door on the net of my kids adjustable basket ball hoop. The topper was fine but the door and installation totalled over $850.00. So I turned it into the insurance and only had to pay the $100.00 deductable.

Well I'm not the only person smile.gif I did the same thing 2 years ago with my Leer. It's not that we're morons the garage was not built to accomodate our needs.

I was putzing in the garage and needed to get to a few things in front of the truck. Well I decided to back up a few inches and BOOM, you know the sound. I luckily had glass coverage, called the insurance company and went to an auto glass shop. They ordered one and installed it. I still find little pieces every once in awhile.

I felt like a kid who just trashed something when I had to go in and tell my wife.

Thanks for the moral support fellas.

In any case it sounds like it is unfortunately a faily common f-up. I will let you guys know what I find out from the Burnsville Radco on Monday.

The window frame is toast. The hinge seems fine, but the frame is bent up enough that I couldn't get it closed again even with some fairly forceful coaxing. I didn't want to make a bad deal worse so I just decided to leave it till I can get it looked at. Guess I need to take the portable and gear out of the back till it gets fixed.
