So, my new years weekend started off with my truck breaking down in Anoka on my way up to Mille Lacs friday morning at 5:15 am. cost-$300

my wife wakes me up this morning (1/1) with a rousing rendition of "our water is full of basement, I mean our basement is full of water!!!!!!" Cost- still to be determined.......the faucet/spiggot on the clothes washer failed sometime during the night, needless to say, I am hating to pay what the plumber charged and what the clean up crew is gonna charge, but we do have insurance, a $1000 deductable.......I sure hope everyone here has a better year than ours is starting off......and if you get a chance to fish today, tomorrow or next week, catch one for me, cause I think my ice house is going back into storage

Did I mention we just bought a new clothes dreyer too? So much for my spending money for this year................

Wow , What a bummer. Hope things get better.

I did'nt get to go fishing up to my cabin neither. Friday, the check engine light came on in my truck. It was idling rough and did'nt have the performance it usually has. By the time I figured out that it was the MAP sensor it was Saturday morning. Out of 8 places I called for one , no one had it. Everyone said not until Monday. So I had to stay home. Really was looking forward to the long weekend. Oh well, next weekend.

Welcome to the world of Slick...

2 Decembers ago, I had 1250# of brass fall from a forklift onto my shoulder. No ice fishing that year, to go along with 10 months of rehab.

This year on Dec. 23, I broke my left ankle in 3 places, had surgery on Christmas Eve, 6 screw & a steel plate later, I don't know what lays in store for the rest of my winter. I'm hoping to get a walking cast/boot of some sort this afternoon, or within a couple of weeks, at least. Might get some ice time this year, but the 2 ttrips I had before this happened might be it...

Hope your luck turns better for the rest of the year, maybe we can hit some hard water together and hope our luck gets better!!!

Picksbigwagon-

This might not mean much now, but don't trust the water lines to the washer. The best way to go when you put eveything back is to install valves off of the main lines and turn them on and off when you plan to use the washer. You might want to run copper lines down close to the washer and install the valves as close to the washer as possible. It might be a pain, but its better than what you are going through right now. The copper will stand the constant pressure better than the rubber hoses do.

It wasn't the lines that leaked, it was the faucet head contraption that failed and sprung the leak....It was a faucet head that had a lever on top that turned both the hot and cold water on, now we have the 2 seperate spiggots with on and off valves on them. The plumber said he changes the lever style ones all the time, and they always seem to fail..........If you don't have individual faucet style heads for you hot and cold water lines, change them now, before you have to make a claim to your insurance...........

You can pick up an alarm at Home Depot that just sits on the floor. When water touches it , it goes off, $ 9.99.

But the way Murphys law works is stuff usually doesn't happen when you're at home!

It is best to turn off the valves controlling your washer when not in use, but good luck convincing your better half to do that. smile.gif
