Attatching name/ID plate to permanent

I still have to put my name, address, Drivers License # or MN DNR # on my permanent shack. I'm wondering what the rest of you guys did and how you attatched it. I might just get the reflective lettering and put my name and address on the door but I've also toyed with the idea of using a sheet of plastic I have and attatching that to the side of my house. What would be the best way of securing it so that it doesn't come off during transport and to ensure water doesn't get into my house. I have aluminum siding by the way.

Just use your 9 digit state ID number, there's no reason to give identity thieves all your other information. I have it engraved onto a piece of wood and then screw it to my house. A guy at the fair did it for me.

Last winter on Mille Lacs I was checked by a CO and got a verbal warning to get my data on my portable and he also reccomended the DNR number. After he left my buddy and i got to thinking and I opened my wallet and lo and behold there was my fishing license from the previous year. I compared the two and they were two different numbers. If I put the number off of this years shelter license will I get a citation next year if that number is different or will they still be able to use the old number to identify me adaquately for their purposes?

Here's what I do for my portable - I just print my DNR # off of the computer in large font and slide it into the plastic sleeve that was supplied with my portable. Then I use small pins to fasten it to the front of the fishtrap. The holes that are left by the pins are so small you'll never notice it. If your number changes from year to year it takes about 5 mins. to re-print it and your good to go.

Walter,

I had the same problem this year. I moved and when I came to buy a new license, my number was different. I called the DNR and they said that they have been having problems with people who have moved, for some reason, when you have a new address, the machines are spitting out new DNR #'s. They combined my two numbers, and gave me back my old number. You have to call them though, pretty simple to fix...Just takes a phone call to the DNR.

I took a scrap piece of plywood that I had laying around and cut a square big enough for my info, with 2" reflective letters, primed and painted it the same color as the shack. Put on the lettering, then covered with a spray clear coat, multiple times. I then screwed this to the house, you should be able to find studs in the walls, and screw the sign to those studs. Mine has lasted for five years, and I have not had to replace a letter, or repaint it. From a short distance you cannot even tell it is a board, if you paint it the exact color.

Just put the stickers on the house and use your DNR#. That should do it. You can take care of the issue with the DNR# later. As for a portable, I used a Stencil and found some orange paint. It works just fine. I think white would work better, but I had to work with what I had.
