bow storage

This may be a dumb question. Can I hang my bow from the string? I have a wall mounted gun rack and the bottom hooks are empty and I thought I would hang the bow there. Any problems with this??

Probably not.. I however would feel better hanging it by the riser I would think. Make sure you turn the bow down and wax the string real good for storage...

I'll echo what Dietz says. Probably not a good idea to hang it by the string. Could creat wear and tear, or worse...break on the rack. Wax it good, turn the poundage down (four turns of the limb bolts max) and hang it by the riser.

I've been hanging them on the string since the beginning of time and no problms.

How in the heck could hanging a bow by the string cause any excess wear???? It's not moving back and forth or anything just sitting there. Personally I wouldn't worry about it but the guys who posted above me probably have more years experience with this stuff. But it still doesn't make any sense to me.
