WHat license do I need.

What license do I need to use a portable ice shelter? I am too lazy to look on the MN DNR HSOforum. I figured someone could tell me. I think I only need to have my MN DNR # posted, but then I read about some new license (I am guessing that is for permanent). Thanks for the help.

You need a shelter license for a perm or a portable. I believe it's $17.

it's $12.50 for the license DNR# is all you need posted in 2" numbers.

Do non residents need the license too? I plan on doing a couple days of fishin after Christmas and I'm from IA so I don't know what you guys have for regs up there. Could somebody fill me in? Thanks

You need the $12.50 Dark House Sheleter Permit. There is a section of it that you need to tear off and post on the outside of your shelter. The permit tells you which part to post. You also need to post your 9 digit DNR# that is on your shelter permit or on your fishing license. This needs to be posted in 2 inch tall numbers. I have learned these pieces of vital information thanks to the FMers who responded a few weeks ago to my same question.

Deadeye37, you will need a non resident fishing license and a non resident shelter tag. Last year my tags cost me $69. Not cheap. If your are only there a few days it may be cheaper. I have one year tags.

Thanks for the quick replies, I knew I needed the fishing license. I think I'll just leave the XLT Twin at home and use my buddys cousin's. Thanks again.
