Power Pro Diameter

Deitz Dittrich

Question

  • 0

I have been a 6 lb xl Trilene Walleye guy for my whole life. I want to get some power pro but dont know what line diameter I should get.

For example: Do I match the 6lb mono diameter and then get 20 lb test P.P in return?

Or do I go a step down for increased line diameter and a little less strength? 20 lb is way more than I need, but this line sounds awesome ! Help!? grin.gif

Oh Yeah, same walleye setups, Bottom bouncers, Jigs and small Cranks.

With power pro or fireline I wouldnt worry about the strength issue very much. Ex. From what I have seen 4lb fireline is much stronger than any mono of much bigger test. Match diameter that you need to be consistent with bait depths that you are used to.

Give 4/15 a shot. Plenty strong and thinner than your old stuff. You'll love it.

If you go with 20 or 30 lb. line it can be an issue when you snag up- cut fingers or broken rods are not fun! I've seen people do both.

I used 6 or 8 pound test mono all the time. Now I run 2-10 power pro. Great for jigging and bottom bouncing. Dont go more than the 2-10 for jigging. I wouldnt go more than 16# for bottom bouncing. Set your drag to release a bit on hooksets.
