License # on FishTrap?

If I interpret the reg's correctly, I need only one of the following printed in 2 inch tall letters: Drvier license number, DNR Number, (what is a DNR number?), or name and address. In addition to one of the above 3 items, I also need to somehow attach a tag that was issued with the dark house license. So, if my counting ability is up to the task, I need 2 things on the outside of the house. Correct?

Yep. Look on your fishing license or Dark House license and you will see "MDNR#", that's your DNR number.

So, if i just purchased a Voyager shelter, all I need to slide in the License holder is my MNDNR# (in 2" high #'s)and the shelter license. Correct?? I do not need my address and name and MNDNR# on the outside of the shelter???

FL Sniper , number size law changed 4or5 years back (maybe more), It WAS 3". DON'T use your D.L.# as ID!! Use your DNR #, It's the same on your hunting licenses, nearly any license or stamp you buy from the DNR has that # on it. Look back at some expired DNR licenses. It's shorter and the chance of identity theft is minimal. DEADhead , If I loan the house (to a friend), the license goes along with it. Do you change the license plates on your car/truck when a buddy drives it??? Where's the difference? I still own the house. If I sell it, I have the option of peeling the numbers off or removing the license holder all-together! Maj330, If you look at your licence(ELS), On the top it says "MN DNR License" Directly beneath that,it says "MDNR# 000000000" The 9 digits are your DNR number.

Yep...I remember 3" being the height as well but then I just remember seeing 2" in the rule book this year...that's why I looked it up. I just figured I'd put down the 2" rule so no one would get confused. I didn't mean anything by it.

That's a good idea about using the DNR # instead of D.L. #, especially if you still have the old style D.L. #.

maj330 if you look closely at your license you will notice two little notches that can be punched thru and then used to attach the thing to a zip tie or something like that. I guess they put it on there for people that dont own a paper punch. Personally, I just took some spray adhesive 3M #90 and sprayed it on the back of the license and also on a small piece , will put a zip tie on it and hitch it onto the zipper of my house

I also printed my DNR number out and laminated it. I just use a couple large safty pins to attach it to the portable. It's not very durable though. I was thinking of using some of those stick-on letters and but them on duct tape and paste that on the shack.

I dont have a clam but I do have a Otter Cabin. I haven't looked close enough at a fish trap but here is what I did on my Otter. I bought those 3 inch cheap boat number/letter stickers (the reflective ones for added visibility) and stuck them right to the sled portion of my Otter sled. And yes I have been checked by the fine CO's of Lake Winnie (they can be strict sometimes), and at first they thought they had me for not displaying my drivers lic. or DNR # until they looked a little closer. Just thought I would add my 3 cents.

Thanks for the rule clarification help! Now that I look more closely I can see the perfed edges of the so called "U Notch". I was wondering if a paper punch would work instead but if we are allowed to put everything into the nice license holders built into the portable shacks, I think I'll stick the shelter tag in there along with my newly laminated DNR number.

while I've never had my laminated dnr number blow out of my clam license holder, I have had my shelter tag blow away. I needed to get a new tag two days after the 05/06 tags were required (march 2). i suggest making sure the tag is fastened to the shelter. I laminated my tag, punch a hole in the corner, ran a key ring through the hole, and attached it to my shelter zipper.

I live on the edge of the prairie here in DL and it does get windy!
