48 team

wow!

I also noticed when reading about the 48 team that Jr. won the most popular driver award for the third time in a row! One thing about NASCAR fans is that there's no bandwagon whether they are doing bad or not.

Did anyone read about the restucture of Ray's operation? Sounds like he is trying to take a page from IRL/Champ Cars, being there is no longer the title "Crew Chief" and it was more of a 3-4 person panel for each teams decisions.

Yates goes and cleans house, gets both of Rays old Crew Chiefs.

Hendrick loses Loomis and now possibly Knaus also. Might see the 5 and 25 excel faster than the 24 & 48 next year!

It should be interesting offseason to say the least!

One other thing, its obvious you don't have to be good to be popular!!! Maybe that's a real similar thing to your one thing...

Latest Breaking News From Jayski...........

Lawdog to jump on the #8 bandwagon!!! shocked.giftongue.gif

When asked why the recent change of heart, he replied: "Budwisers tasted better than that darn Nicorette Gum" He added: "Don't get me wrong the Du Pont paint still gives me a good buzz"

Dog,

Yep, that's exactly my point. Nascar fans like a real person, not a robot, hence Mr. Roboto losing by almost a million votes. grin.gif

No nut, all I've been doing as of late is moving snow. We have been getting our butts kicked and hard the last week. I will try to get out for some bird hunting and a little muzzleloading this weekend but we are supposed to have up to 6" again by morning... mad.gif

I'd agree with that too that there is no bandwagon..but if Bill Elliot was still running and wouldn't take his name off the list, he'd still be taking most popular driver hands down. When was it...one year that was the only way Dale Sr. Could win it and I think that was the year he died...I don't recall if that was the year or not though..)

yes, it was. How do you feel about 24 and 8 not attenting the end of year awards. Sounds like Nascar is kind of po'd at them. 24 was over in europe doing some type of racing and junior was racing at daytona (on playstation). I think it is disrespectful (to the fans and other drivers) of both of them just because they had crappy years to not show up. Especially since 24 got the 11th place award and 8 the "most popular".

I wonder how many of the other drivers wern't there? Jeff and Jr had a horrible year, I don't blame them for not going. Yipee 11th place. Thats like saying all the football players should be at the super bowl watching it if there not in it. I don't think Tony Stewart cares if these guys were there or not. JMO, not trying to get you all worked up grin.gif

I understand, I wouldn't want to be there either if I was them. But they should've sucked it up.(pun intended, they did all year blush.gif) The awards is more like the pro bowl than the super bowl. Even if you don't want to go, if you are invited you should be there. Same with the Holidays at the in-laws blush.gif oops i've said too much.

Now Kurt busch at the end of the year is like being at the super bowl just watching.

Speaking of the awards banquet....I got a kick out of Jack Roush applauding Kurt Bush when he was up there. In my opinion, and this is just my opinion, but he did it simply for the TV. I got a pretty good chuckle out of seeing that.

I didn't think it a big deal they weren't there. Its an awards show, its not mandatory and if it was they would have been there. I heard they were talking about taking some contingency awards away from Kahne and Sadler for not showing up too and I think that's a crock. If it wasn't listed as "must be present to win", then they didn't need to be there!

But, what if everyone had that attitude? You would have a one man banquet. For the amount of money these cats earn doing something they love it not too much for them to take one evening out of their schedule. Otherwise just scrap the show and the awards all together.

Gordon was excused by the NASCAR folks, Jr. just blew it off. That is the problem with Jr. and many of the people in his generation. The "it's all about me and if I don't think it's important, then it's not important and to heck with what you think" attitude. I'm glad I'll be dead by the time this geration starts running the country.

<<NASCAR officials are ``extremely disappointed'' in Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and other drivers who failed to attend the season-ending awards ceremonies.>>

Doesn't look like Gordo got excused any more than the others.........

Big deal I say. These guys are tied up almost every weekend of the year with race promotion. Give them a break if they didn't make the top 11. (I think #11 should be there though).

Gordon, Jr., Sadler and Kahne should have at least shown up for the one day. They are representing their sport in the biggest market in the U.S.

I read they only used 10 seconds of Jr. video thank you, I guess that is all they could show from the 90 second take. Now that is pretty chessy!

I believe it was stated on NASCAR.com that Gordon had agreed to go to Europe when he was considered out of it. It was like 15th or somewhere around there. Before he even agreed to it he got the blessing of "higher ups". When he ended up 11th he was in a pickle. Obviously NASCAR's left and right hand don't talk to each other.

Fellas, my previous post was not an attack on Jr., but more on his generation. How people came to be so self centered is beyond me.
