nitroant
I carry a snow shovel with my portable to move the slush away from the holes and pile snow around the outside on windy days and would like to find something with less weight. I know you can get 2 lb ones at REI for backpackers but they are like $40. I know there are companies out there that make them for food service operations for loading grain and corn into different hoppers and they make them for emergency clean ups of flamable materials, but the only ones I can find are the REI kind. Anybody else have something they use that works good, small, light and low costs??
Ralph Wiggum
I don't know if this is bigger than you're looking for, but go to Fleet Farm and check by the farm tools. I have a plastic "grain scoop" shovel that I like because it's tough and fits easily in the trunk of my car. Much better than one of those cheap, long-handled plastic jobs! I think they're like $15. Perchpapa
I purchased a real nice light plastic shovel at wal-mart for $8. It extends out for extra length. It has a decent sized shovel on it. I fits perfect in my trap.
FishBonz
Happy Thursday everyone!I use a plastic "car" shovel. You should be able to find a plastic shovel that collapses down that most people woould carry in their trunk. It's light and durable.Jamie "FishBonz" Hanshaw
Duffman
Look in the hardware stores or Fleet Farm, they make little shovels for stowing in cars. I think mine was like $8 a couple years ago.
cliffy
I bought a cheap one at Fleet a few years back...but to be honest, ever since I got my "Big Dipper" I just use that to move the snow/ice....worth every penny!
the big dipper
Hi there Cliffy, I'm really glad you like your Big Dipper. I was really glad I had one in my van last Tuesday, I got myself and one other guy unstuck. They work great for scooping behind your tires and under the vehicle. Thanks, Mark Edevold - Gonvick,MN
