Ice House HELP!!!

Building an Ice House 8x14. We finaly got the frame done and am going to start the rest. First question what plywood for the floor. Is 1/2 inch enough? We have a steel frame with cross bars making 2x4 grid.

Also have a 10,000 btu Remington Heater. IS This enough or should I return for a 20,000 btu heater?

I used 3/4 in treated on the floor mabe over kill but i also insulated the floor and put 1/4 luan over that. as for the heat i only have a 8x8 but my mr heater sunflower works pretty well once it warms up. hope i helped

The heater depends on how well its insulated, but my guess is that you'll be a little light with a 10K. I would go with at least a 15K heater, the 20K BTU should be plenty. The 1/2 inch will work, but I'll worn you now, after its sits the first summer it will warp a bit. So 3/4 treated would be better for that reason, otherwise 1/2 will be fine on that grid, I have had mine like that on same grid and it was built in 1999. I would also paint it top and bottom even though its treated.

Thanks for the help. House is very well insulated. Using 1.5 inch foam on all walls and ceiling. Floor will be 1/2 pad and carpet. Gonna give the heater a try (I think) unless I hear of someone already making that mistake. I have a buddy heater that I could run along with the other heater to get by this year. Went a little alot over budget already and still need new electronics to celebrate the new house.

we went in between on the plywood and used 5/8"

I could be wrong but I think that the 10,000 BTU heater would be plenty for your well insulated house.
