Ice Update

Looking for ice update, Have the required about 3-4 inches been hit on many lakes... I havent been out so i really dont know anything about the ice thickness. Anyone who has been out or has checked can you let me know.

The ice Up NORTH was just starting to get semi-safe when this rain and snow hit!

Probably will be a while now before I will attempt to get out.

The next week or so isn't supposed to get above freezing!

There is about 1-2" of ice on lakes in the Waseca area and that is on lakes that were wide open yesterday. Hoping that this snow doesn't have any effect on the ice making process With the cold weather we should have some good walking ice by the weekend.

crystal and loon lake in lake crystal just froze over today. The entire lake was open yesturday (tuesday 11-29). SO BE VERY CAREFUL

Was out on a 120 acre, 13' deep lake on 11/27 and it was 5" thick from shore to the middle but went to a larger lake 20 miles away and they were docking boats from the ramp yet. Not a sign of ice.

I don't know what happened during the night back in Minnesota, but down here in SE Iowa we got 4" of powdery snow, and more is still coming down. A few inches of snow on top of the ice will insulate it, and definitely slow down the ice-making process, so be careful if you got a decent amount of snow.

Spring Lake by Prior in the cities froze over yesterday, a little snow on top. I imagine people will be fishin by the weekend !
