IcePro
I found Husqavarna. They use a shaver system which appears to like Stike Masters. What amazed me is the weight factor. They have two models available and the weight is 11.7 lbs. and 12.8 lbs. I had to make sure it was pounds and not metric.

wolfman-k
Add another to the StrikeMasters side of the ledger. Their customer service is good! I have a 10" with a new Lazer blade, and it can pop holes all day long. It is a little heavy, but if I get tired, I just let someone else punch a few holes instead. H2O
I'll throw my vote in for the Strikemaster 2hp Lazer Mag Express. Entering my 4 season with it and am 100% satisfied. I have to also mention that I agree with the comment about Strikemaster's customer service being phenomenal. I sent my old blades to them for an exchange on a Tuesady and I had them back and on my auger by Thursday. I've used both the chipper blades and the shaving (lazer) blades, and I would recommend spending your money wisely on the lazer blades. A few years ago I was punching through 45 inces of ice on LOW just proving you really don't need the 3 hp. One thing of Strikemasters that I do not recommend is their smokeless oil that you mix with gas. I used it and was very disappointed. When I switched to Bombardier synthetic oil my auger had less fumes, no oil drippage and the engine even seemed to perform smoother. Good Luck. Big Dave2
I sold my jiffy and bought a used strikemaster 2hp and this thing runs like a dream and cuts almost twice as fast as the 3hp brand new jiffy did. I think if you get a good motor on your 3hp they run great but it seems there are more bad ones than good. They are also way too heavy and noisy. The Eskimo Shark is a good auger also, just more expensive. They are WAY FAST. The other eskimos without the chainsaw motor don't seem to be as fast as the lazer, but possibly are cheaper. I really think they should stop making the 3hp models until they can get a motor that cosistantly runs good. The only thing I don't like about my Lazer is the blades icing up but it is not that big of a problem.
tashit
What are the Shark's more expensive than? They are just over $300 at Marine General. However I see Cabela's has them closer to $500 and I was wondering why they are so much more there. I actually got mine at Cabela's last year for $300.
