Little merganser and more geese

Thanks guys :-)

Steve, the 1.4x is GREAT! Both shots taken with it on my 200mm. I need more reach so just today I got the Kenko Pro 2x. Unfortunately a lot more image degradation whereas I see virtually none with the Canon 1.4x. But, usable enough that I'll be able to have fun with it.

Cheers

Cheryl,

Another great job--dang you're learning fast!

My learning curve was so much worse with film. I have learned so much more, so fast since digital, and it appears that you are getting that same benefit. By the way--I love the color of the clouds in the goose photo. If I may suggest though--I would love to see you try that in a vertical crop. I think it would give it far more power given the composition that it would create. Just my opinion.

Wow those are some nice pictures.

I have a question and many of you have all ready addressed my question and today i went out and looked at a camera i saw. I am not sure if this is a good camera or not but here it goes.

Fuji fine pix digital camera. It has 6.2 megapixel and a 3.2 digital zoom, and ISO settings from 160- 800. I dont know if this is what i need or if there is something better for me to look for.

Thank you for your replys

Thanks guys,

I did get some nice light with the merganser. He's been hanging around with the mallards at the pond for a while now. I like him, he's a cutie.

Tom, I will try the geese with a vertical crop -- thanks for the suggestion. I have to admit, that 200mm prime is making birds a bit easier as the AF is so fast. Only problem is I'm becoming addicted. Can't wait to learn more and find places to go and expand my horizons.

Andrew, it depends on what you want to shoot. If you want to capture motion such as birds in flight, etc., I really believe you need an SLR as there is no shutter lag. If you're more into landscapes and stills, then the Fuji would be fine. It's hard choosing something as there are so many cameras on the market these days.
