Ebiz
I'm thinking about cutting out of work early today to chase some waterfowl, with the high winds are there going to be any birds flying around?
outdoor ran
I beleive this is the first time I have ever chickened out of duck hunting this morning. I hunt bigger water and with the wind guest into the 50's I used my head for a change and decided not to go out. Lots of big trees down over roads. Hopefully it will be huntable tomorrow morning. Good luck if you get out and be safe.
Tom Wilson
I just got home. Seen a few local birds near town, but by 10am they were done flyin. Saw a lot of little sloughs in town that were full of birds. Most of the birds I saw on the sloughs were sleeping with their heads down. Maybe they've got better sense then we do. Dean Schellinger
It was indeed extremely windy. Against all intuitions I went out and hunted the big water alone. It was the most scared I have had duck hunting but it was a blast. Ended up with my limit of 4 drakes(a mallard, 2 GWT, and a wood duck). Saw quite a few birds, and they were all flying very low which is always nice. Had to change the game plan once I got to the landing. Decided against hunting out of the boat and just put on the waders instead. The wind was definitely strong as expected.
outdoor ran
Went out and battled the wind this morning here in Northern Wi. With guest into the mid 40's and cold it felt like duck hunting for a change We took 18 ducks with a mixed bag of gadwalls, goldeneyes, buffles, scooters and mallards. Big push of hoodeds, goldeneyes and buffles. Wow, does strong winds mess up your shot placement. We went threw almost 9 boxes of shells, 1 oar, 1 decoy, a life jacket and had one bloody hand. Only soar note was the amount of ducks lost due to divers in the waves. We were battling 3 to 5 foot waves. Anyone who hunts divers in the late season knows how awesome these days are. Talk about some frozen smiles.

outdoor ran
Seems like the nasty days are the best days. We had one guy back out too on Sunday because of the weather. Hes hearing it now Jar, Im taking the blind down this afternoon and will hunt for an hour. It never stays with the ice, so It comes down and goes back up after the marsh is up next summer. I plan on duck hunting on Thurs and fri morning if the bay isn't frozen. Then its deer hunting for 9 straight days. Good luck hunting.
