Reel Repair

I'm looking for a reliable reel repair shop in the western metro area. I have two Abu Garcia Ambassador 521 XLT PLUS reels and one of them is not as free spooling as the other. I thought I'd oil it, but that didn't help. I need an expert to take a look. Any suggestions would be appreciated... Kaz

I know there's a guy that is an Abu specialist in Minnetonka(or thereabouts) but can't recall where right now. I know that That Guy knows him, so I'll let him chime in.

There is a guy called Robert Haik in Richfield that is very good. We send him a lot of business from the Gander Mountain store where I work.

I have sent numerous Abu Garcia reels directly to the Abu Garcia Factory Service Center, for repair work. They are great, to deal with and usually get the reel completed and turned around in just a couple of days. For most repair work there is no charge, which is even better. Minnetonka Outdoors. They are in Shorewood/Excelsior area on hwy 7 next to the holiday station just east of christmas lake.

I am 95% certain they are a Abu warranty service also. Tom is the guy who works on the reels, previously to Minnetonka outdoors, he worked at Tackle Plus doing all the reel repair, including warranty work.. you cant find a better reel tech anywhere.

Very fast turn around on the reels also. You will be pleased.
