Deer Decoy Question

I was intrested in getting a decoy sooner or later. The question I ask....how could you put some type of object on the decoy so other hunters know its not a real deer. I know there are a few people in this world that believe its worth shooting a deer weeks before rifle season. Also the native americans have an early season by my cabin and dont want a mistaken shot. Is there a way I could paint an orange "X" on the sides or hang an orange flag somewhere without spooking off approaching deer? Any input would be appreciated.

Are you planning on leaving it out? Or are you concerned about being shot at while carrying it in and out to your hunting stand? If you have to leave it out there when not hunting, I would take it down and hide it in some brush. Then, when you go to hunt, set it up in your location.

Another thing to do is to spray it down with scent killer before you use.

I used a decoy (Ready Doe) for the first time a couple days ago. 4 deer that saw it spooked and ran, one was a small buck that was up-wind. Im sure they might work in some situations but Im not useing it again!!

If you are using a Buck I have seen the antlers painted blaze orange and a doe jut blaze spot the ears or something. Maybe some orange tape well above the decoy might help as well!! Good Luck!!
