I need some good discussion to pass the afternoon.....what is everyone doing this weekend? Without divulging lake names if you don't want to, what are plans? Are you traveling or chasing muskies in the metro? What presentations are you thinking of throwing? What time of day are you most interested in?

I'm thinking Metro area, prioritizing the AM hours. Jig 'n' pig will be rigged, as will a Bulldawg, and maybe I'll try slow rolling a spinner bait.

Deer hunting weekend, so there should be a lot less of us out there!

i went fishing last weekend. no boats, no jetskis, no line at the landing and it was 60 degrees. only saw 1 muskie but it was still worth it. had a few northerns and some bass as well. I'm not going deer hunting until second weekend so i plan on trolling a big jake or something across points and outside of the old weedline. I wish fishing was always like it is now, nice and quiet

I am going to go out this weekend but I would be very open to suggestions from some of you guys with more experience. What is the Musky pattern this time of year? Shallow or Deep? Fast presentation or slow? Big bait or small? Morning or evening? I’m pretty open for where and when, but the only lake I really know well is WBL. Now that the stupid news told everyone that there are big fish in there, it will probably be the busiest lake this weekend. I was out there two weekends ago and didn’t even get a follow. Help!!

I see you are in Stearns County.....do you hit the lakes in that area? Cabin is in Stearns. I know of a "sweet" one that direction....if you know what I mean....but not too many muskie waters over there. Where do you do your fishing?

cjac, i am up in the northern corner of stearns co. I don't go south much, to the sweet spot. I can make the south end of millelacs in 50 minutes or try to hit Alex or Sham south of montly. somedays i just go early, take the gas bill in the rear and drive to leech or cass. when i fish in stearns county i just bring the kid and we go for catfish out on the chain in cold spring. that way since i really don't care if we get that many or he wants to go home or whatever, there is no pressure, just fun.

Since its so nice this guy is pitching the deer hunting and hunting skis instead on the big pond. Trying the metro today after work . I keep raising this upper forties fish on a reef (raised her three times one afternoon)but she won't close the deal.Thought i had her the first time she followed, missed my bait twice and followed a figure 8 for close to a minute. Shes mine tonight! Bulldawg will be a must as well as a glider. Always keep the J-mac handy as a desperation bait.

Anybody interested in hitting WBL on Saturday -- mid morning to early afternoon, let me know.

Regarding where the fish will be -- I have no idea other you need to flexible. Most of my action has been shallow though I have gotten a few at the breaklines this fall.

Saw 4 on Forest Lake yesterday. One was hot just didn't take the lure and the others were more or less indifferent. Moved them on a Believer and a glide bait.

Looking for a way to get out of work this week.....I'd like to head to 'tonka.

I got out a for a couple of hours on Sat and Sun on WBL. Raised a few nice fish with a large Eagle tail. One was upper 40s on Sat and went back on Sunday AM and sure enough I got a hit -- set the hook (fish didn't move) I pulled back harder to set the hook and she was gone. frown.gif

Water temps were around 50 degrees and I raised them on the deep weedline areas. Didn't move anything shallow.

Don't you hate it when you think you do everything right and the hookset comes up dry?

Was WBL fairly empty? I was going to do WBL but went a few minutes up the road to Forest, only saw one other guy throwing for muskies. Fish we saw were both shallow and outside edge. Might do WBL this weekend.

Jon,

You crack me up. Anyway, I read on MH, someone had some good action on WBL this past weekend at the deep weedline as well -- ripping large cranks in the re-emerging gabage. For the life of me, I don't know where there is any cabbage on WBL outside of a few stalks.

Regarding missing that fish -- there was so much pressure on the line that when the hookset slipped the fish rolled and her tail came out of the water and she waved it at me. Missing nice fish is the story of my Musky career.

Cjac -- Sat was busy and Sunday was slower as Jon mentioned

The cabbage can be found in some odd places. I am new to the Metro Milfoil problem so when I moved down here this spring I drove around and around looking for cabbage. WBL seems to have broken weed lines if you look close it kinda goes mil, mil, mil, mil, strech of cabbage, mil, mil find those pockets in the spring before season during those "bored" pre season boat outings, mark them, then fish the heck out of em all summer. They do hold fish.

Jon's assessment of the weeds is dead on......mainly milfoil with sections of cabbage mixed in here and there. Yes, they do hold the fish, last weekend on Forest the fish we moved were all in the remaining green weeds.

I have a few sections that I like to fish, although the suicidal 20 inch pike that go after a 12 inch bait can get annoying.

Wondering how much this front and the wind stirring everything up will upset things?

Hopefully I'll see you guys out there this weekend....certainly not wasting time watching the Vikes.

Cjac -- I will be out on WBL (I am in a rut) Sat and Sunday. After this weekend, the boat goes in storage according to the boss. It is going to be a long winter frown.gif.

I have a Black ProV 1900 with a Merc EFI. Hope to see you and Jon out there. Good luck.

I agree it is going to be interesting what the Skis will do with this weather change.

Weather reports have changed again for the weekend, not sure what day I'll be out there. Next few weekends are booked, so this is likely it for me as well.

Black Lund as well, 17 foot with a Yammy, red Rapala decals on the side. I'll keep an eye out for you.

I really feel the need for one more fish!!

I have a fish out there that I would definitely classify as a fish that would fufill your criteria of being "the one".

I've seen her four times in the same location.....if it's not the same one then there are a couple MONSTERS that like that locale. For some reason I can picture a couple of us being bow to bow on the spot this weekend, trying to get her to take a nice Jig 'n' Pig set up!

Weather looks like saturday is the best option......we'll see ya out there.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
