Cliff Wagenbach
I bought the LX-i last winter and really like it! It sure makes finding the spot-on-the-spot a whole lot easier! No more drilling a lot of unused holes or having to carry the MarCum LX-3 around while searching for the right depth or spot. I have been able to read thru up to 2 feet of ice if there are not to many bubbles or frozen slush in the ice! Cliff
CrappieJohn
While I personally do not own one, I have had the opportunity on very many occasions to use this unit and it is a charm to deal with. I will shoot thru ice like a warm knife thru butter. I have used it on two feet of good ice and had no issues at all. And yes....it did mark fish while shooting thru ice of moderate depth , like a foot to 18" on a couple of the occasions where fish happened to be directly under us when the reading was taken. For someone who really bounces around looking for schools of fish I can see where one of these would be a super addition to the tackle bag. Ray Esboldt
I have been using this unit the last two seasons. It really makes new lake/new spot exploration quite a bit easier. No drilling holes needed. A squirt bottle of water or butane torch to create some wet on the ice is all you need. This year I'm thinking about making up a dozen, small, color-coded flags to help me mark out structure contours while hunting with this unit. It has become more than a nice to have tool for me. Deitz Dittrich
Ray, i like the color coded flags idea.. i have always used pop cans.. pepsi and coke.. a pepsi can upside right for one depth upside down for another... ect... flags would be much easier.. I have used food coloring in water too, to write the depth in the snow.. but then you have to be over the area to read what you wrote.. you usually cant see if from a ways away. CNY Tim
The LXi was worth it's weight in gold yesteday. Ice conditions were 6-7" with water on top in most spot's having this tool allowed us to pin point where the fish were without cutting a hole we checked depth and used this unit extensively yesterday on the ice. Towards the end of our day we located a pod of gills that were moderately active and the fish alarm chimed to let us know they were there beneath us. That area produced the most action all day. Is this unit worth every penny? You betcha. Another quality product from MarCum Technologies. The Performance pack is the way to go I have a set Of Cabela's guide series bibs and the LXi stayed nice and snug in it's soft pack clipped off the D-ring on my pant leg always with me and ready to go. Don't just use it for depth, the fish scan mode is an excellent feature on this unit as well!
