The sox were the best team when it mattered, but were a few hits away from becoming the biggest chokers in history PERIOD!

I didnt say they choked! The seasons over, sox won, youve had a week to soke it all in. I sure it feels great.

As far as I am concerned who cares what happend its all history.

As of today we are all tied again in first place at 0-0.

See ya next spring.

I have to side with the Sox fans on this one. They hardly sneaked into the playoffs. They couldn't keep that pace all year and Cleveland went nuts at the end, except for the last series. Ninety-nine wins is a pretty darn good season in anybody's book. Besides, look how they rebounded at the end and cake walked through the playoffs.

I thought it was perfect the biggest choking chokers collapsers under achievers of all time TOTALLY CHOKED and Collapsed down the stretch and put their fans into hiding and near the brink of insantity it was beautiful and fitting for such a franchise to win the world series like that.

So if it was not CHOKING or COLLAPSING what would you call [PoorWordUsage]ing away a 15 game lead and not even winning 100 games in an era of UNBALANCED SCHEDULES "if it were balanced that translates into a 91 wins for SOX" what would you call it?

Don't get me wrong I am glad they WON it but can you say RODNEY DANGERFIELD or CLIFF CLAVEN to go through that CHOKE/COLLAPSE and then to have only 2 Home World series games and to have it the lowest rated series of all time along with no Rioting in CHICAGO it appears because of the CHOKE JOB COLLAPSE and the short series the few Sox fans their are "see MLB attendance" never recovered in time to enjoy it.

I don't know about you boys but as a Cardinal fan I don't think they played anything like they resembled during the regular season in the post season. The last three weeks they just didn't finish strong, not at all what I was looking for going into the playoffs.

What I'm saying is if my team had 80 wins and won the world series I'd take that anyday. You could call me choke this and choke that it wouldn't matter a lick because we were the champs...

You want to talk about choke well I'll offer up my Cleveland Browns now they exemplify the word choke....

Hooked,

I'm glad you joined this dance. You see what you are up against here, a bunch of whining snivling Twinkie fans and a poor misguided bitter ole Cubbie-Lover. I see the green-eyed monster called jealousy all over these posts. Call them chokers, call them the lowest watched series contestant, call them whatever you want...THEN CALL THEM WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS! How can you say a team that finished like they did chokers? It defys logic.Look in the history books and let me know where the 2005 White Sox team falls in 1 and 2 run games won record??? Pretty impressive for a bunch of chokers! As for poor Geno's "if" theory, the only thing I can say is that "if" your grandma had a peter she would be your grandpa! And you can put that one on the board...YES! Windy

Please keep up with the posts before lambasting me Windy.

It was a Sox fan who brought up "what if" Cleve and Chi had played each other "2 weeks earlier", not me. Furthermore, we have all acknowledged that the Sox did NOT choke. Seems that you are too giddy to be able to comprehend reading more than just a few recent posts and then responding appropriately?

Oh yeah, now I'll drop to your level: There is no jealousy by any of the posters here except the Sox fans who want the rest of the league to treat them like the next great dynasty. But we all know that won't happen and actually was close to being a non-discussion. If you think a frank chat about the facts of how the Sox almost ended up barely making it in is "whining and sniveling", you can just stick your comments where the sun don't shine...you know, where your grandpa hides it for your grandma.

boy oh boy does this thread still have life.... let it go...................... grin.gif

Since nobody asked for my opinion, I will give it. The White Sox did not back into the playoffs... they created a cushion that the hottest team in baseball (Indians) down the stretch could not catch up to.... plain and simple, they had a slight scare and then put the beat down on the Red Sox, Angels and Astro's in dominating fashion. Case closed, next assignment: spring training. grin.gif

Did anyone see the Simpsons on sunday, when the aliens were watch the baseball game waiting for it to end and they were complaining about how long and boring the game was and then they hit the field with some type of speed up ray and it was still boring so they turned up the speed and it created a vortex that destroyed the universe all because baseball was so slow and boring.

That was awesome.

TNFL,

Nice post....a little ChrisFarleyism? For me, and I think some others, it wasn't boring this Fall.

Buzz,

I don't know...gotta dispute your choice of the word "slight". And gotta dispute "dominating" too. Sure they swept thru, and for sure their pitching was great, and for sure the whole team came thru, and for sure they are now World Champs, but undoubtedly nowhere near the next dynasty in my opinion....but I'm just a jealous Cub fan so maybe I better go see what my Grandma thinks????

Gotta hang in there during Hockey season....I'm also BlackHawks fan but they are even more pathetic than the Cubs! Whoa? is me. (And also a Packer fan, so I'm a 3-time loser!)

If it pleases the court, I would like to question the witness.

Now, Mr. Geno, on or around the time of 11:32 am on the morning of October 27th in a recorded conversation with a Mr. Commanche Jim, whom you reffered to as "Jim" did you in fact not say to Mr. Commanche and I quote, "Jim, I may be wrong, but if the Sox had been swept by the Indians" refering to the series that the Sox played in Cleveland? Even though you were wrong in your question, the Sox would have been the division champs even if Cleveland had swept them and tied by rules of the MLB tiebreaker situation. Therefore it is our contention that you did in fact bring up the "what if".

Furthermore, if it pleases the court, Mr. Geno, did you not again on or about the time of 12:29 pm on the date of November 3rd again refer to Mr. Commanche again stating, "Jim, Here's a "what if" back at you" ? Therefore it is my contention that you not only once but twice invoked the "what if" clause that brought my repsonse involving a Grandma and Grandpa and the aforementioned "peter". Let's send this one to the jury and as usual...YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD....YES!

Unlike the white Sox winning the world series some of us still care about this thread "see no rioting in Chicago"........and if that was not CHOKING what was it again......I think what got them to the dance/title in spite of choking away a 15 game lead and not even winning 100 ball games while on pace to break the all time wins mark "LOL" and calculating the unfair unbalanced schedule which no one will argue would have been a 90 or 91 win season for the SOX max, is LUCK pure and simple.

Nice Buck Buzzy he's Fat one, my Rack's bigger though. grin.gifooo.gifmad.gifcool.giffrown.gifblush.gifcrazy.giflaugh.gifshocked.gifsmirk.gifconfused.gifgrin.gifwink.giftongue.gif

I'm sure you know this one?

IF a frog had wings......

Windy, you slithering lawyer-wannabe you.

Nice try, but once again you are trying to baffle us with bull instead of dazzling us with brilliance.

Taken out of the context of the discussion, you are correct that I used some "if then" logic on Jim. Of course, that was only to debate his argument that the 6 game lead the Sox had at the end of the year was not "close". You yourself just wrote about the possibility they would have ended up tied. Argument 2 is also phony as I already had stated it was in response to his "if they had played 2 weeks earlier".

Case dismissed for lack of evidence.

Thanks for reminding me the end of the bit Mr. FriendlyLiotta.

I know that Buzz, although completely unawares of it, was just reminding me of my complex about my big nose, furrow brow, six fingers (wasn't there an ex-Cub pitcher with 6 fingers?) and 3 nipples and, you know...funny looks. Glad you straigtened me out.

Now, where's my weapon? Gonna hunt down a legalbeagle.

I'm sure you all know this one: Whadda ya call 10 WSox fans at the bottom of the ocean?

Geno,

I hate to keep this subject going but, even if the Sox would have tied with Cleveland, they would have won the division by reason of a tie breaking system of the MLB so they were never in danger of losing the division after the win in Detroit. So I guess YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD...YES

and now you can GO GET YOUR SHINE BOX! LOL
