Need Recommendation

The ice fishing boards are starting to heat up, it must be fall. They are talking frost tonight here in the cities, so come on ice!

Need a recommendation for an outfit with sleepers on Red Lake. Thinking about doing an overnight on my way to LOW in January. Anybody got a good outfit they go through?

Check with West Wind. I have stayed there and they have really decent sleepers.

Philo: Another, is the Motel in Shooks. He has a bunch of newer drop downs and rents them out on Red. I don't have the name of the place there, but there must be some info on the web somewhere. I know other reservations fill up fast and this is just additional option..... Kaz

Probably not but get your hotel reservations fast otherwise you'll be making the drive back to Bemidji every night in March. There just aren't alot of hotels or other lodging in the area, and I feel that has attributed to the popularity of sleeper houses on Red. On any given weekend, there are hundreds of people spending the night in ice shacks.

The Royal Shooks Motel is the motel in Shooks that Kaz is referring to. The might have a grand total of 8 rooms available.

I'd definately try and hook up with Kelly P. Also, last winter I rented a house from Matt Bruer at North country guides. No complaints there either. Like was earlier said, I'd hussle buns and make reservations or you'll be driving to Bemidji.

Boilerguy: The Drake motel in Blackduck is a sponsor on this site, and that's a good place we should patronize, a lot closer too, then Bemidji. The restaurant across the street is "Good Food" too. I think someone's Grandma does the cookin... Kaz
