Getting pumped!!

Was going thru the duckhunting gear last night, starting piles of clothes, gear, calls, shells, plugs, food, etc. and was getting pumped!! Even though its going to be a blue bird day on Sat, not a lot of ducks around, duck camp is always fun!! And then the Sunday morning shoot always is great, wood ducks landing in your decoys, teal whipping by in the semi-dark, banging and booming all over the countryside - I can't wait!! By my calculation, this will be my 25th opener since Uncle Sam cut me loose!! Not consecutive though because the wife decided to run the Twin Cities marathon one year and discretion said that I better be there...

i have been sorting through stuff for over two weeks!!! i have been thinking of saturday constantly, i have a two hour drive on friday to the place we hunt so it is gonna be fun! i loaded all my stuff but my guns on sunday. It seems every night i am doing something with my gear, the funny thing is that i get my dog going crazy because i am handling my hunting gear..LOL she has the fever too!

Yep, you can count me in on this subject! Did some shopping Saturday at Gander Mt. and bought a couple boxes of shells, got some ringneck dekes, got some bw teal dekes (why, I don't know....just always wanted to have some to mix in), then for the past few days I've been tying strings and weights to the dekes I bought, putting hot glue on the knots, and PATCHING HOLES in my decoys! Why my hunting partners feel they need to put holes in my decoys I'm not sure! But every year it seems I have a half dozen or so decoys that get new holes in them.

I've got about 20 more decoys to check out, then make sure the boat's gas tank is full, bail all the water out of the boat from the rains we've had, go to Gander Mt. to get myself some new waders ($250 pair of neoprenes lasted me 2 years then got 3 holes in them...grrr). Then, just pack up the shellbox (which is actually a nice big plastic toolbox) with everything, load up the duckboat, get some snacks, and make DARN SURE the coffee maker is good to go!!! Last on my list is to try and get to bed Friday night by like 8:00p.m., because I know it will take me probably 4 hours to go to sleep, then I'll probably get about 3 hours of sleep, then lay in waiting until it's time to get up and go!

37 years of stompin the swamp for me since Uncle Sam let me go.

I keep 2 bags packed all year long. One for fishing trips and one for hunting trips. I keep everything in the bags I need. Seperate socks, underwear, pants, shirts, boots etc:

The only thing I have to grab is my rain gear and heavy coat and I'm reday to go, oh plus my weapon of choice be it fishing pole or gun.

Got the fever. Drempt about past seasons last night and can't wait to see them ducks a flyin.

Rewired the boat trailer tonight, mounted a safty chain on it, and fixed decoys up, opener sounds like a bust for me, I need lift weights for football in the morning so I can go out to get a spot, might go jump a few private ponds that I can get on, or set up in a feild for geese, Sunday I will be leaving home at 2 in the morning just to make sure I am on the water by 2:45 to get on a good point on the lake. Can't wait...homecoming game friday night, duck opener this weekend, I'm shaking like a leaf just thinkin about it.

I also have a homcoming on friday. I was going to go to the partys but I'll say "Nope sorry I have to duck hunt in the next day" I can't wait. My FFL deal knows I don't have a good paying job and I have worked for him before. So I have builted up credit with him. I am getting waders from him at cost. My dealer is a really nice guy and a good friend. Anyways I am really getting pumed my last year of high school. Also last year of homcoming and duck hunting in the same weekend. I CAN'T WAIT!!!

I don't need luck I have skill. Just kidding good luck and BE SAFE.
