Does this surprise the Bears?

Bears: Brien's job is in jeopardy

09/26/05 09:21 AM

THE NEWS

Doug Brien missed his third field goal in four attempts this season—wide left this time from 39 yards in a potential momentum-changing situation. "We're concerned," special-teams coach Dave Toub told the Chicago Tribune. "He's missed three out of four. That's not very good." There was no word on whether the Bears would bring in potential replacement kickers this week, but coach Lovie Smith said: "Doug has to kick the ball better. We realize it and he does."

Isn't this the same kicker who a few years ago cost the Vikes a game against the Bills, plus a few others?

As a bears fan for 27 years, all of my life, this is typical. They may be the worst franchise in the NFC North at scouting and rating talent. Edinger had struggled the past season and a half, post leg surgery. Just wasn't working out in Chicago. Yes, Doug Brien missed two extra points agaianst the Bills.

Look at Chicago's first two rounders over the past 10 years, its amazing. Can you say Rashan Salaam, Curtis Enis, Cade McNown, Alonzo Spellman, and on and on...

Chicago fans expect and accept mediocre play. City of loser franchies, except da bulls good run.

Bears ownership blows, isn't still George's Halas's daughter?

As a kid you never heard of blockbuster deals or attempts at going after the superstar. Look at the QB situation, bears have had almost 30 different startes since the Favre era began.

LOL - I here ya! Butch Davis didn't do a dang thing right as a coach for Cleveleand lets see here's some first round beauties.... Courtney Brown, Tim Couch, Gerard Warren, William Green and Kellen Winslow Jr. What a legacy he left behind.... With Romeo and Phil Savage we have hope and optimism. Tough loss to the Colts when we should have won that game. Northcutt's punt return for a touchdown (b.s. penalty) and Antonio Bryants dropped touch down pass. We got to clean up the penalties (two taunting calls) and stop shooting ourselves in the foot. I like the way there going thus far improving every week. Should be a good game against the Bears after the bye week. Orpheus Roye will get a nice break and we should have two healthy tight ends with Shea back and Heiden. Reuben Droughns has been steady and so hasn't Dilfer. Cincinatti is the real deal but I'll reserve judgement and endorsement before they play a playoff team.
