Out of State do it yourself Bowhunt

Live in Minnesota and looking to do a self guided, public hunting land, out of state hunt instead of paying $2000+ to an outfitter. Which states are good/helpful/easy to deal with? I'm looking for a trophy whitetail.

check out southern WI, lots of state land and plenty of deer.

Glascow,Montana.Lots of land in thier walk-in program,and along the Milk River there are some real trophy deer.

My question is don't you have to deal with license drawings in some of these states? Or can a guy buy these over the counter on line or what? Thanks.

Wis is over the counter.. I actually bought mine at Gander MTN last night.. many Ganders sell WI licences... FYI the non-res archery lice for WI is $160.

I'm thinking that WI will be part of my plan. Any other states you guys had luck with (Kansas, Iowa, etc.)?
