Harness System

Just bought the Ameristep Harness System (From Fleet Farm) but I haven't a clue where to find the 30+ foot rope to use while in my climber. Any ideas???

what do you need the 30 foot of rope for?

It's supposed to be part of the climbing system. You attach the rope to the tree above your head and hang the rope down the tree. Look on cabelas web site.

If you look at the cabelas site.. they sell 50' and 100' of camo rope.. you can either get 3/8th or 1/2"... I would probably get the 1/2" to feel a tad safer. However the 3/8th inch is probably more than safe.

Sounds good. Last question is where do I find or what will work to cinch the rope around the tree in case I fall? Thanks.

Loop it at the top with a bowlin and have your harness connected with a caribeaner that hooks to the downline via a prusek knot or a mountineer knot

walter- I would suggest you go into a reputable bow shop and have them show you how its done... They should have all the stuff to buy to set you up.. Gander would be another good bet.

Speaking of Harness Systems, anyone use the

Hunter Safety System vest harnesses?!? I've got a harness now, not full body, that it's like connect the dots in the dark trying to put the darn thing on in the early mornings!

The one I'm looking is at is about $94.99. To expensive, think it's worth it....

Any info. on this would be appreciated!

Goto bowsite dot com, they did some reviews of the HSS vrs seat o the pants, they didn't rate the HSS very high from the standpoint of what if feels like when you hit the end of the tether. But I do think the convenince of a vest system would be nice, I have one of the seat o the pants ones, and in the dark its a bich!! Consequently I tend to go with my harness that just attaches to my upper body. But I've vowed to practice with my seat o the pants and use it more this year.
