icepike
do some of you guys use a flaurocarbon line as a leader attached to your power pro?or do you go just straight to the power pro.
picksbigwagon
I use 2 feet of fluoro, and a swivel. depending on what I am searching for, it could be 2 pound, or 10 pound, and I have used 20, but that was only once, I gave it to my brother to use one night when we were nailing crappies
Bob_D
I use floro as well. I either use an albright knot with a lock or a swivel depending on the situation.
Jim Hudson
Yup, a lot of times I use a floro or mono leader on my power pro.... on the open water or through the ice... I use a back to back uni knot and have found it to be very durable...
Northlander
I do just like Jimbo.
metrojoe
In the past I've put 60 or so feet of fluorocarbon on each reel, but I would get horrible line twist. Now I just use a leader like the others posted above.
icepike
thanks for the replys guys..i was just comtemplating this because i feel that with mono or flouro your gonna get line stretch.but if it was just directly to your power pro..it would be like an instant hit..does anyone know what im thinking or does it not really matter? hanson
Icepike-I sure do know what you are thinking. One question for you is how deep are you generally fishing? Obviously, if you are fishing in 5-8' of water of so, straight up mono or fluoro should be just fine. With so little line out, the stretch factor will be minimal and rigging is simpler. Now if you are fishing 30-40' of water and want to take advantage of the low vis properties of a fluoro, a 2-3' leader of fluoro tied to your Power Pro is definitely the ticket. The Power Pro will not stretch and you will have a lot better 'feel' at that depth.
icepike
thanks hanson. appreciate the input.my partner and i caught alot of fish last year and i wasnt using a leader..but on certain days they seemed more shy than usuall.hence "line shy".. that 3 foot of flouro is gonna be what i do.that fits more into my catagory of fishing depths over here.
