Campground games..............

Has anyone tried the game where you throw a rope with golf balls tied to the ends at a rack of pvc pipes? I've heard it called snake toss and hillbilly horseshoes. It's pretty fun. So far I've seen a couple of different ways/rules to play, but talk about a cheap game to make, and fun to play.

This is a favorite around our campsite, we call it horseballs. PVC pipes are set up to look like a ladder with a base. "Ladder" has 3 steps, top rung 15pts, middle rung 10pts, bottom rung of ladder is 5pts. Race to 100pts, must land exactly on 100 with out going over.

Also, Washer Toss...2X2 foot open box made of 2X4's with a pvc pipe mounted in the middle. The pvc pipe measures about 4 inches in diameter. Throw big washers, in the box 1pt, in the circle 3pts.

Another one I see a lot is the bean bag toss....basically it looks like a box that slopes from back to front with a hole cut in the middle...

Bocce ball, Croquet, and Original Jarts (not the new "safer" ones are still a favorite)

You can never have enough camp games.

I've heard all those names, we call it Cowboy golf. We use 3-2-1 points (top to bottom). Play to 21. Point cancel out. So if I score 6 and other person scores 4, I get 2 points. Can play teams too.

Also play bean bags, kind of like horseshoes. 3'x3' board slightly elevated in back with a 3" hole in the middle. Make up some simple bean bags. 3pts in the hole, 1pt on the board. Same rules as above.

The secret to both games.....beer.

The brother-in-law's brother, who claims to be an expert on building the golf ball game, says that increasing the length of the rope doesn't maximize returns for the game. Something about the rope being half minus X of the distance between the rungs etc. equal oppoturnity plus momentum and ... as I always tell him, the game's for kids so leave me alone.

I don't know if this game has been described yet or not but it's a fun one to play and better yet it requires that you have one hand on your beverage of choice. This game reqires two four foot long PVC pipes and a frisbee. Set up the poles vertically about 10-20 yards apart. On top of the poles, balance a beverage. There are two members on each team and they must stay behind their respective poles so the object is to catch the frisbee and catch the can/bottle if the pole is hit with the frisbee. Points/drinks can be set up any way that you like. Very fun game to play, but if you're not that good at it, it will become increasingly difficult!
