iffwalleyes
Lake of the Woods my friend that is all you need. There are many resorts that will fit your needs. Check out the Lake of the Woods forum especially as we get closer to winter and you will get lots of help on where to go.
Matt Johnson
I would have to second Lake of the Woods. Some pretty affordable places to go out of on the MN side and the fishing can be very good for walleyes, pike, perch and eelpout.A few other options would be Rainy Lake, Lake Winnibigoshish or even Red Lake. With these lakes you can get into a mixed bag of walleye, pike and panfish, although you can't keep the walleyes up on Red.Lake of the Woods would be one of my first choices though...Good Fishin,Matt Johnson
Jim Hudson
For Lakers and Bass... Come visit my area.... But I am in WI.. (not too far from MN though )
icehousebob
Think about a combo trip. LOTW, Upper Red, Winni. Try to get houses for one or two days at each to give yourself a shot at several species.
Gissert
Lake of the Woods gets my vote too. Along with the south side resorts that Matt mentions, the NW Angle is a great fishery too. It is not as crowded as the south side. I have had some of my best ice fishing trips in the waters off the south side of Oak Island.
Eiger0304
Lake of the Woods. Go early and you better sign up soon. Though gas might be a killer just getting there.
Animal
LOW - Wheelers Point has many resorts that can accomodate you. I have my own sleeper house, but a buddy of mine fishes out of Riverbend and is very satified with the price and accomodations. I agree that the best overall fishing is in the early season, although if you go later in the season and your house is not on the fish tell the outfitter to move you. Captain B.R.K
If you are looking to bring your own gear along with you (sleds, houses, augers, etc.) I would definately put a plug in for Canada......Muskie Bay Resort off of Crow Lake. They have access right to Crow for Lakers and can get you on some fantastic crappie and walleye fishing on LOTW! Otherwise you can't go wrong with any of the resorts up by Wheeler's point on LOTW. If you are looking for numbers of fish, that is the place to go. Unfortunately with both options you won't get into any bass.....maybe the occasional smallmouth bass.I think both options will be do able for $250 but could be more like $300. ENJOY! Northlander
BRK says it well. Paul at Muskie Bay Resort is a top notch guy and Lakers in Crow and Crappie/walleye in LOW is a blast. Make sure ya bring your snowmobiles. Lots of riding to do as well as fishing.
