help with my 332C

beretta

Question

Hey guys Im having some trouble figuring out my 332C. I have been fishing Mille Laces a lot and have been having some trouble.

I have been on the mud flats on the north end out from the North Garrison public access. I keep getting a screen similar to this and if I didnt know any better I would say its a really weedy bottom...but I know that there arent weeds like this on the flats in Mille Laces. What am I doing wrong? Heres a picture of my screen.

My second question is what would you say this is? Im guessing fish on the bottom? Are fish always a perfect arch? thanks for any help you can give me. I realise these are pretty stupid questions but Ive never really had a locator that was worth looking at other than for the depth. 100_3509Small.jpg

Hard to say on the first one but the 2nd one looks like fish in some kind of weeds off the bottom. The thing is you have it zoomed 2x. I have a 332 and do not use zoom so its hard for me to tell you for sure. The zoom can make it look different. Nice pictures to get help, I will give you that.

I have the LMS332c and from the 1st picture, I'd have to say that it looks like weeds. NOW IS YOUR GRAPH TRUE TO WHAT IT'S SHOWING UNDERNEATH YOU? That is the biggest question. I had to do some tweaking with my unit on the sensitivity and the speed of the unit so I could read the arcs better.

I would definately play around with the the menu's setting. I was out walleye fishing and I had to play with my settings but eventually I showed arcs. Sorry I can't pin down your problem, but you'll figure it out next time on the water.

For starters, take the zoom off and turn the sensitivity down. Next, is your unit set to the default color scheme - there are a few color schemes available for the display, and depending on which one you're looking at makes a difference in interpreting what you're seeing. I'm guessing your first photo is showing a bug hatch, or maybe riled up silt from the flat if your sensitivity is really high.

I think your second photo is showing fish and baitfish by the bottom, but you do not have your transducer set at the proper angle and you're only getting partial arches. Look in your manual under transducer installation, it should tell you how to adjust the transducer if you're only marking the left half of the arch. Fish do not always mark as perfect arches, especially when they're close to the bottom or schooled up or swimming around as you're marking them.

I'd suggest setting your unit back to the default settings and then practicing with it until you understand what it's showing you. Go over some thick weeds, easy to find at this time of year. Go over some hard bottom and soft bottom and see what that looks like. Pay attention to the colors and the strength of signal you're getting back and it will help you understand what you're seeing. Good luck.

My first thought was a layer of cold water or a cloud of sediment. I agree turn your zoom off and the gain down till you can faintly see it but also see through it. Hard to cipher the second pic because the gain is too hot. One thing for sure is your ducer is consistently marking half arcs. Try leveling the ducer. Keep playing with it but go back to defaults once and a while if you feel you have it whacked out. Download the Emulator and install it on your PC to get familiar with all the menu functions.
