Anyone else getting the itch?

I've been thinking about shooting a bird over a good point since early July. It's going to be a long couple of months for me!!! At least Game Fair is coming up and the game farms will be opening soon. Definitely doing a game farm or 2 in Sept.

Got the itch big time. Jeffrey, my 1 year old GSP has been doing very well in training and I'm totally pumped to see him work the fields.

Come on September 17th! I flushed a few grouse the other day and it was about all I could stand.

I try not to think too much about the upcoming hunting seasons. If I did I think I'd go bonkers.

I remember when I started duck hunting, after I got out of the service, there were many an opener when I didn't get any sleep on Friday night and would head out to the swamp to hold my spot at midnight for a noon opener.

Haven't done that for a few years and don't plan to again.

Not that there weren't good times BSing with hunting partners but I've got that out of my system.

Still like to hit the swamp a couple of hours before dawn but I'll let the young guns take the midnight shifts.

My buddy and I hunt pheasants but he is dying to chase sharptails this year. I tell him they taste kinda like a duck a but he doesnt care. So maybe in late Sept we`ll head to SD for some sharptails. Otherwise itll be late Oct when the crops are down before I hunt birds. I love to chase them but too frustrating when the crops are standing. I hunted ruffed grouse when I was younger that was a hoot. For being dumber than a mud fence they make you feel awful silly sometimes.

Seaguar...can you imagine what it would be like if a grouse was as smart as a pheasant. We'd probably kill about one a year.
