MuskyBrian
I was up in Nestor Falls about this time last year. Fishing for walleyes was good but you had to be RIGHT on the spots at times, drift too far one way or the other and fishing was tough. Minnows worked well, leeches worked almost better. There's a decent baitshop right in town which I am sure will provide a very good map, I would also talk to somebody in town/baitshop/resort who may know exactly where they are at right now. To my knowledge, water levels are still higher then normal seeing as they have been at near recrod levels most of the summer I believe. Good Luck
jerkin'm
What lake are you looking at specifically? I know a couple up there that are pretty cool and fun fishing....One is a portage in that is fairly easy too...
STMA_I_HUNTER
Talked to the people I'm going to stay with tonight at hockey and they are actually on LOW, so I will be fishing that. They have this place and go for 1-2 weeks a year and that's it. They don't fish, and really can't help me at all.
Vipor50
You can be entertained all day catching northerns and Muskies up in Stoney Bay. It is a cruise by lake from Nestor Falls - but well worth it.
Shorelunch
SIH,I believe this is the map you want for the Nestor Falls area www.fishingmap.com/shop/paper-lake-maps/ontario-lake-maps/ontario-canadian-hydrographic-service-charts/lake-of-the-woods-map-southwestern-channels-sabaskong-bay.htmlThey are very good maps.I never fished that area of LOW - I've only boated there for lunch from Morson. The walleyes are going to be on the reefs, humps and points in probably 12-25 FOW. I'd recommend trolling hammered gold or silver spinners with bottom bouncers rigged with leeches or crawlers. You can also trying jigging as well(I like white jigs on LOW). You can throw Rapalas for smallies along any deeper rip rap shore - especially with weeds nearby. I wish I knew that area of the lake better but your map will certainly help. "Hemlock" would be the one you'd want to talk to.You may also want to try another web site justfishontario dot com for more advice.

Hemlock
STMA, when do you need the map by? I'm wondering if it's going to take longer to ship it there than you have time. I'm an authorized LOTW chart dealer, if your in a pickle, let me know.
STMA_I_HUNTER
Thanks for the offer. Shorelunch gave me a link and I called and ordered it to make sure they had 1, I should get it in time, but if not how do I get one from you?Going up the 11th-14th and can't wait. My son is even giving up a couple of hockey games/practices he wants to go that bad.
Northlander
Hemlock do you have a detailed map of Northern Lights Lake? I have a decent map but would love to have something more detailed and waterproof. Let me know if you can help. I leave on Sunday though. Hemlock
I think it would be touch and go if you get that mailed to you in time. Speaking from experience, most times, it takes a long time. 2-4 weeks. I would have one here in Kenora, but would you be passing through here?Northlander, only the "bigger" lakes have the great maps. I don't think you'd find one better than what you already have. If there is a good one out there, I would think the resort you're going to be at should have them at their office/store? Eastwind
Hemlock,Do you have a HSOforum for your business? Can you post it without breaking the rules of the forum? How long of a drive are you from Crow Lake, North of Nestor Falls. It seems that I am always looking for additional maps for myself or giving someone else direction for getting maps. I'll be heading up to Morson, for a long weekend, in about an hour ( bummer, eh?) so I will not see your reply until Tuesday or Wednesday.
Hemlock
Eastwind, I'm about an hour north of NF and then 20 minutes west. Let me know if you ever need a map. Could always mail it to your Canadian destination. Lake of the woods waterproof navigational charts are $20 CDN. (approx. $16 USD) Good value, I think.HSOforum is reserved, but not yet under contruction.
STMA_I_HUNTER
I've been reading the Tax code, oh I mean the limits associated with the conservation(about $24) and sportsman($40) license(for the 7 day). Is the only difference that with the sportsman, you can have 2 more fish in possesion? What about kids, I believe that i understand that they need their own license to keep fish too. Can somebody confirm that information for me.I'm coming up through Baudette, where is a good place to pick these up at? Final destination is Nestor Falls.
