How adjust Minnkota foot pedal?

Ufatz

Question

I almost have to STOMP on my AP/PD 24v Minnkota to get it to respond. I've heard you can get in the foot control box and adjust it, but I see nothing in the operators manual that discusses this. Can it be done by a mere mortal, or do I need to go to one of those $80 an hour places to have it done? Also, what do you guys think of the wireless wrist control option??

I have also taken mine apart and did a repair. It was one of the "bubble switch" contacts. It was totally compressed, I placed 1 small drop of silicon on top of the bubble and now it works great.

I dont think I would opt for paying for a repair when it can be replaced for around $70. The remote option is also a good choice.

Pay close attention to how the springs are mounted when taking apart.

Just replaced one yesterday for a 50PD cost was $60. Bad bubble switch. Called Minnkota they wanted $58 for the circuit board and $68 for the whole pedal. Search the Minnkota site for the local Minnkota service centers. Call around for prices. The varied from $59-$89. Pays to call around. This took all of about 10 minutes.

One of my fishing partners got the wrist control unit and is happy with it but the control is very slow compared to the foot control. He took the unit back. He was watching my foot control operation and was impressed with the quick response I had.

So...uh...wait a minute. He is "very happy with it" but it is slow and he returned the unit. Hmmmm....do you suppose I should go ahead and buy one? Ha! It DOES seem like a good idea....I'm really tired of the foor pedal nonsense.
