Help find a campground

Recommended Posts

My wife and I are looking to take a camping trip with the kids this summer. We want to stay kinda close to home. Are there any suggestions for where to camp within a 50 mile radius of St.Cloud?

Any tips will be appreciated!

Thanks,

Corey Bechtold

Corey, Carlos State Park has a nice campground right on the beach. Good fishing in Lk Carlos, and good swimming on the beach. It's 10 miles north of Alex, so it's a little farther than you asked for, but it's freeway all the way to Alex and then 10 miles up 29. Make a reservation! If you want to be close to the lake ask for the lower campground by the lake. They have big posts on the beach to tie up your boat. The upper campground is in the woods. I live 5 minutes away and my wife and I walk the trails there every week.

Most state parks have boat rentals.

We stayed at Sibley for the first time the weekend before Memorial. It's nice. If you're looking at state parks, either at Mille Lacs are good. There's a nice state forest campground on Big Birch north of Melrose as well as one near Pillager.

I'm hoping to get into Savana Portage near Big Sandy this weekend.
