Ski Pylon suggestions for a Lund

Hookmaster

Question

When vacationing next month with the family, we will be doing a lot of tubing. I want to get a ski pylon to get the rope out of the water. Does anyone have suggestions for one that will fit into a pedestal mount on the rear deck of a 17 foot Lund Angler SS? If you do, please include where to buy it?

I was looking into the same thing and the pylon's I saw specifically warned against using them for tubing, only for one person skiing or wakeboarding. For tubing I use a harness from the rear eyes. If you do go with a pylon, I doubt that you will find one that works with your rear deck seat mount - that wouldn't be able to handle the stress. Most pylons come with their own mounting plate and then have outriggers that you attach to the transom or just below the aft gunwales.

I've heard to not use a pylon for tubing, but then again, I've seen a lot of people tubing from them. I've tubed plenty from a yoke attached to the eyes on the transom. Just make sure you buy a yoke that has a float to keep it out of your prop.

No kidding. I was out pulling my daughter on the tube this past weekend and got the line wrapped in the prop. Thankfully I killed the engine fast enough not to have caused any damage. Bought a float that same afternoon.
