Ranger Step Side?

I am looking into a new truck and found one i really like, the only problem i have is that it is a step side style box on a ford ranger. I have a regular box on an s10, the portable and auger fit in real nice. Would this smaller box be good for a fish trap guide and an auger? Or, do you have a way to pack the auger and fish shak so it will not take up as much room. Thanks

If push comes to shove you could always put the auger on top of the fish house. It's heavy enough that you wouldn't have to worry. It might be a little tight with the new Ranger if you wanted to put the portable and auger side-by-side. But, you should be fine just placing the auger on top of the portable and then strap it down with bungees or something.

I run a ZR-2 S-10, and everything seems to fit in there just fine. My buddy runs a Ranger and he can fit everything in as well, but I don't think he has the step side version. I would measure everything out, maybe everything will fit after all...

Good Fishin,

Matt Johnson

I drive a ranger 4x4 also and have room for all kinds of goodies! Fish house auger and all the amenities. Me and the buds sometimes have to improvise and get creative, but we getter done.

Riverrat is correct, You lose the space around the wheel wells. For me It would be space I couldn't give up. Fish house, auger, heater, propane, shovel, tackle, bait buckets, cooking stove, It all adds up. Not to mention that you can't haul sheetrock, plywood, or any other items that are more than 3 1/2 feet wide without them sitting sideways.

I have a step side 4x4 ranger and have yet to run into and trouble with my eskimo ice house and auger, I fit everything back there and have yet to lose anything. Just need to learn how to pack it and use all the space that is there

Hey guys - I live in the Owatonna area and own a car lot in Iowa. I'd be happy to help anyway possible, but I cannot pay to advertise here. And I really need to re-read the forum policy on advertising.

(Please do re-read the policy on sponsor advertising)

Thanks.

Thanks for all the input guys. I did end up purchasing the step side. I could not pass up the deal. Should work well enough for the few times i will be getting out this year (college). It will be hard not being able to hit the ice anytime of the week.

I myself have a ranger but not a stepside, it is a regular box. I am building a frame out of 2x8's with a sheet of plywood on top, and I will have storage undernieth for poles, grill etc. My portable, auger and other big stuff on top. It looks good on paper so far I'll let you know how it all fits when I get it done.(someday) smile.gif I also have a topper so I can keep everything in it and locked up.
