Price for US beer in Canada

Recommended Posts

Leaving Sun. morning for Wiley Point via Totem Resort. To lighten the load and avoid any delay at the border, we have, in the past, bought our beer in Canada. Lately I have been seeing some high numbers from people for Blue. How much is US beer going for at the beer stores in Ont.? Bud, MGD - the standards. Just wanting to know if we should go duty free and pay the duty on the excess.

any info will be appreciated.

We don't have all your American beer, but do have some. Bud Light and Budweiser are available at some (most?) beer stores. I don't think they come in much less than Blue. Maybe a buck or two.

As much as we love the tourists/fishermen to spend money up here, my advice to you would be to buy your stuff at the duty free. Anytime I've had to pay duty, it's taken less than ten minutes. Just a thought. Last time I was at Wiley a month ago, there was no shortage of beer/liquor at their bar. wink.gif

Beer in Northwestern Ontario will cost you AT LEAST $30 Canadian a case, or $24 U.S., so you may want to buy what you can at home or at duty free. Interestingly, agents recently have been letting folks visting us go through with an extra cse or bottle of wine/booze without charging them anythnig extra. Just be honest and see what happens. Depends on mood of agent, I guess... I'll find out in about 8 hours! And yes, no place in Canada is too far from a Blue!

see ya
