Elite 50 Tournament in Wisconsin

As of right now, I am headed out there on Friday to see the weigh-in. It should be a good time. I'm guessing this is about as close as a Bassmaster event will be getting to Minnesota.

I think i will head out one day as well. The weigh-in are at like 7pm, so its pretty easy to get out there after work. It could be as close as we get, but with them expanding their tour to 12 events next year and going later into summer, there is a better chance we could see BassMasters frequenting the upper midwest more often. i.e Tonka, Mississippi River, Great Lakes, Vermillion.... And their Major tournaments will be smaller, so places like Gull, Whitefish (Wissota) may not be out of the question.

I'll be there at least two days, probably Fri and Sat weigh ins. Some top names giving seminars at Gander Mtn in Eau Claire as well: Sat 11th 11am-2pm - Zell Rowland, Brian Snowden, Alton Jones; Monday 13th 6pm-8pm - Larry Nixon, Jay Yeles, and Gary Klein. Also, the FLW will have a tourney on the Miss R near Onalaska Aug 3-6. I believe local anglers such as myself are gonna be thinking," Why didn't I fish that spot with that lure before," after the tourney. My brother saw a bunch of the big boys rolling into town today with the big rigs. Plenty of 4-5lb smallies in there - believe the gals will be post spawn with males on beds yet. 5 fish over 14" for a limit, they will allow them to sort fish. A few nice largemouth though as well, better average size - see if any one targets them. The tourney coverage will be on ESPN2 - first part on June 25 at 9am and the second on July 2 at 10am, ESPN2 also.

Man I love the citgo bassmasters. My buddy tapes the shows for me. I saw that 11lb 13oz giant that KVD caught on TV a couple of weeks ago.

If they went to Tonka I'd have to follow them - well use my buddies bass boat. My 25H could keep up for about .325 seconds - LOL. I want to watch Mike Iconelli go nuts when he catches a 2lb tonka largie. LOL!!!

LOL @ e-bass... Tonka has a 40 MPH speed limmit.. you could almost keep up!

EBass the big guys were on tonka a few years back for the FLW championship. Actually they have been out there twice. I did a little driving around. KVD spent quite a bit of time in the channels and around the little island near big island on the gidions bay side. I am pretty sure on this but Jim Bitter did well throwing deep ledgebuster spinners at one of the events, and Peter T. Won one of the events in wayzeta bay. Carolina rig.. And of coarse our hometown boy MR. Roll-R-Rock(moyana) jig boy one the other.

Day 1 weigh in - I believe the top weight was around 12 lbs. Only one or two anglers brought in a limit of 5. Lots of guys with either no or 1 fish. Pretty much anyone still has a chance to make the cut. Big fish was 3 some lbs. Actually the big fish was either a muskie or a 17 lb flathead - several muskies boated by anglers. Much better weather today, should see more fish, and bigger. What a cool deal, go if you get the chance! Got to see Roland Martin, Shaw Grigsby, Rich Clunn, Larry Nixon, Kevin van Dam, Ike, Skeet, Denny Brauer, etc.
