Ya Gotta Love....

Recommended Posts

I was reminded today when I was out pitching baits how stupid some people can be. I Love it when a boat goes between me and shore, when I am throwing to shore! I feel like putting a reef hog on and and showing them I can cast into there boat.

Last year I was within 50 yards of a nice point in about 12 FOW and I had the trolling motor down and I look over my shoulder and here comes a big sport boat, they cut right in front of me, chucked anchors and start fishing for sunnies!

Ya gotta love those people!

It's amazing isn't it? Some people think they own the lakes, it's even worse when your in my situation, 14 ft boat, 15 horse motor, and me being a 16 year old guy, so people just feel the need to show off there boat to me by pulling in 10 yards closer to shore than i am fishing and drive right over my line and then cast back to behind me. I usually just leave, but if fishing has been good in that spot for the last bit of time, i will resort to one of 3 methods,

1. Hold up my stringer and proclaim outload " Im Leaving because I Have my Limit"

2. Fire up the merc and rip around as best i can to scatter all the fish in the immediate area.

3. Tie on a big spinner and begin to perfectly drop casts around there boat and motor within inches or them, or throw the occasional one over there lines......

O well, sometimes its just better to let them think they own the place, those people don't usually know a lick about fishing so its all fine with me if they don't enjoy the true hunt of finding your own fish.

well said river rat. i know how you feel because i am only 17 and i fish in a little 14 foot with a 20 horse. i get the same dump as you do about people likeing to try to take my spot when i am fishing just because their boat is "worth more" thats fine. i have many other places to go to and catch fish. so all the power to them. just tells me i am in the right spot or they dont know how to fish and they think i do. either way, tells me i know what i am doing.

I truly believe there are more (Contact US Regarding This Word) out there than not. Last weekend I was fishing on a no wake zone lake. It used to be a 10 horse max lake but now it's no wake. You can go about 3 MPH or so without creating a wake. Nevertheless, I saw this guy in a big freaking pontoon boat plowing along going about 10 MPH and leaving a nice big wake behind. What a (Contact US Regarding This Word). He was not the only one out there churning up a good sized wake either. In fact only myself and 1, maybe 2 other boats that I saw using their main engines weren't creating a wake.

If that talk keeps up it won't be long until it's back to 10 horse or less on that lake.

I have to go with riverrat's #1. With no boat, I have been doing a lot of panfishing on the public pier with a fly rod. Something about the fly rod that seems to make people like to crowd, as in casting right accross the front of me and stand directly behind and cast over my shoulder. I usually do better with the fly rod, so I catch a couple big ones, throw them back (which really irks them), and then leave with a "It's getting too crowded around here for me".

If you can, just outfish them. I've actually had crowders leave in a huff after I've caught several to their none. Do it right and you can have your say and feel good about it afterwards.

I've had guys pull in and troll right behind if they see me hitting fish. I was bottom bouncing for 'eyes when this guy in a resort rental boat comes right in behind me while I'm reeling a fish in. He starts trolling 20' behind and following my trolling line. I pulled my rig up so it was just below the surface and started trolling towards shore. I got him into 2 feet of water before he realized I was messing with him. It was a waste of 15 minutes of fishing but to see the look on his face at the moment of realization was TOTALLY worth it! grin.gif

Lota Lota...

I'm right with ya riverrat....im a 16 year old and i live on the Mississippi right below the Sartell Dam. It can really get old when some one with better equip, or just some one random can just ruin the whole fun of your adventure. I guess we just gotta keep Ramblin ON!!!!

I think us young people (me being 18) need to come together and raise awarness for the condescending views that older more "wiser" folks impose upon us. Wiser, my gluteus maximus!

I really feel it doesn't matter how old or young you are the simply truth is that there are some (Contact US Regarding This Word) in the world that don't know about common courtesy. Feel free to teach them whatever way you feel best! grin.gif

A couple of years ago I was crappie fishing, early spring. I was using the trolling motor going around a small clump of bulrushes. The guy with his inboard came flying up (I didn't know if he was going to stop) but he came to rest 20 feet in front of me, dropped his anchors, and started using his cane poles. Well I gave him a dirty look, and I said "Well, don't mind me!!!" He looked at me and said " Oh, ok" Since he didn't have a clue, when I got back to the access, his was the only other car there, I left him a note on his window and told him that what he did was very rude, and that it ticked me off, and I figured he didn't know better, so I helped explain it, and told him to have a good weekend. SO hopefully I helped him figure it out in a better way than a lure off the side of his head!

So all the young guys that have responded here....I am 35 and it happens to me too! grin.gif
