Karavan Sure Lube system

lawman

Question

I have a Karavan trailer witht the Sure Lube system. If I read the manual correctly I never have to remove the bearings to lube them. Apparently you can "change" the grease by pumping the new stuff into the system as the new pushes out the old. I have religiosly added fresh grease after each trip over 200 miles. How am I doing?

You are being very conservative in the lube schedule. The important questions: how does the grease look that is coming out? Is there evidence of water contamination or oxidation? Is some of it caky and soapy, or is it just like it came out of the tube?

But the most important of all, how cool do your hubs run? After each trip, the first thing to do is to check the temperature of the hubs with your finger, if they are, say, 120 degrees or below, and you are satisfied with the condition of the grease coming out, there would be no benefit to actually removing the bearings.
