Nice fish Deitz. I myself went up to Lake of the Woods this spring for the first time to battle the "almighty sturg." They are tremdous fighters. For anyone that has not caught one, you would not believe the power of these fish. I was using a heavy action muskie rod spooled with 50# PowerPro. When you hook into a bigger one you cannot move them off the bottom. You can pull up as hard as you want, but still no budge. We went up with three guys for 2 total days of fishing. We probably boated 45 sturgeon in that time. The biggest were a 58",52",51",50",48", and two 46 inchers. We caught many more between 24-46 inches. My arms were sore for a few days. I also caught two fish that were tagged. A 24 incher and a 46 incher. We didn't get the number off of the bigger one, but did get the info from the DNR on the smaller two footer. I'll be making the trip next year as well.
