Im just a broke college kid but i hunt basically anything with wings. I shoot and old 870 pump, which i love dont get me wrong. But im thinking about upgrading to a super black eagle 2 hopefully. Does anybody shoot this gun and have anything to say about their performance. Ive only ever heard good things so thats why im interested.

I don't know about the SBE2, but the sbe's did'nt like to cycle light loads. There ar'nt many 3.5" guns that do.

Own both a SBE and SBE2... never had a problem with any shell in either. If it isn't cycling properly, it's probably dirty. Even then mine still generally work with hunting loads... been duck and goose hunting with mud, duck weed and water in them and they keep chucking shells. Look around, you can find decent used ones in that $750-850 range.

i bought a SBE 2 this spring and have shot trap with it 4 times. I upgraded from the 870 pump to. I love the sbe 2 so far very light, and little felt recoil.

I have a SBE and love it. Don't know why someone would think it doesn't cycle light loads, I've shot thousands of rounds of low base trap loads through mine in sporting clay leagues and never once had it not cycle. I even left a spring out of the action on a hunting trip by accident (forgot to put it back in when I cleaned the gun) and it would still cycle 3.5" shells and 3" ones until it got dirty. Never made that mistake again, let me tell you. It's an awesome gun.

Thanks for the replys guys, what about the difference between a sbe2 and original sbe. The only difference is some dimmpling on the grips and a better recoil abosbtion if im not correct? Is it truely worth the upgrade between the two?

I also have an SBE and SBEII. You are correct in that the stock and forestock are different. The SBE II also has a different choke system whereas the SBE and M1's used the same choke tubes. I have a set with the knurled ends to change them quickly and they won't work with the SBE II.

I sisn't notice a huge difference in felt recoil. The stock with the rubber chevrions (SP?) does make the stock seem weaker--you can grab the butt and actually twist it. I was told that it won't break.

My SBE can be a little finiky with 1 oz loads. I haven't had trouble with 1 1/8 oz or bigger.

Unfortunately I haven't used the SBE II much yet other than a few hunting outings last fall- of which it preformed flawlessly.

Don't overlook the M1 that's what I had prior to the SBE. The price difference would buy a lot of heavy shot or toungston to make up the difference of the 1/2 inch!

I totally agree with the previous posts on the SBE2 and light loads. I have shot many rounds of low base trap loads thru a SBE2 and never had a problem. My Grandpa owns the SBE2 and I have a Nova pump and all I can say is they are not the most pleaseing to the eye, but the construction and quality is second to none. These are very well designed and built shotguns that will last forever. Hey if you are in school and short on cash take a look at a Nova, a used Nova in ggod condition will set you back $240-250. New $300 bucks, thats cheap for a high quality shotgun. my 2cents.

Wanted to add one thing about the Nova. You can in the field not needing any special tools completly break it down and clean just about every part in that gun. I dont know of any other shotgun you can do that with. That came in very handy for me last fall when it ended up in a flooded soybean field. Full of mud but in about 15 minutes clean and ready to go never missed a beat.

Own both a SBE and Nova. Love them both. My SBE is probably 12 years old and I do recall it didn't like to eject light trap loads for the first 100 rounds or so. This was just as everything needed to loosen up. But I do believe that all is now well with the guns and they cycle the light loads right from the start.

I also own a SBE. I love the gun, after putting about 300 trap rounds through it i have no problem with any light loads except the winchesters, why, i don't know, but i love the gun, it gets me through my long goose seasons and late duck hunts and works great. Never have had a problem with it, also we r a benelli family where my dad and my brother also both own one, they are worth that price tag

That is the same thing I've seen. Those light Winchesters just don't go through them well. Federals, Remingtons fine but not the low base, light Winchesters.
