Has anyone else seen the new development going up on the south side of the public hunting area south of Belle Plaine on Hwy #3. They are budding right up against it. Can you imagine what the people who put a house up there are going to do when someone shoots there. They already have taken away 500ft. as you cannot shoot within 500ft of a building. What are they thinking? Why would they build there? Doesn't make any sense to me. Why would the county board allow this. Sure as heck, someone will be at the county meeting wanting to shut down hunting. Just had to vent a little.

It won't be very long until every WMA and FWPA with 50 miles of the metro has houses all around them. The population is booming and everyone wants their own lot and house. We can control the populations of almost every single species on the planet, except ourselves. I hate to imagine what the metro area will look like in 20 years.

I noticed that a couple months ago when driving through there also. Look at the housing developements they are putting up in Green Isle right next to mud lake which is a good duck hunting lake. You can't tell me that won't have an effect on how the ducks will use that lake in the future.

This has just a teensy bit to do with reduced infant mortality rate, and increased life expectancy.

Anyone who truly wears their "anti population explosion" and "save mother earth" mentality on their sleeve should do their part to reduce the problem and get on the short list to check out early. Put the old money where the mouth is.

Bub-bye. don't let lifes door hit you in the.................

Don't get me wrong. I'm all for sensible land management, but, the vocal anti-progress minority loves to flex bad science.

I take that route home on occassion. I ticks me off that the Planning and Zoning board would allow this knowing all too well there will be conflicts. Not sure if the same person owned both tracts of land before the management area was sold to the DNR, but it almost appears to be a land dispute between property owners.

Kind of a : "If you put in that management area, I'll develop next to it so you can't hunt".

I'm a developer victim also. 4 years ago I goose hunted in a field just outside of Rosemount near the Vo tech college. The first and last hour of daylight was great hunting, dead center in the fly way when geese were going to and from the U of M reasearch corn fields. Then the developers moved into the adjoing property. The city of Rosemount extended the "No shoot zone" just past the property I was hunting on. Every time I drive by there and see all the houses (same beige color) I just think about how good it was and never can be again. Once the developers move in your good times are history.
