Rod holders for Lund 16ft Rebel??

Green&Gold

Question

My father-in-law owns a Lund 16ft Rebel with a 30 Yamaha that is about 4 years old. I want to mount some rodholders on it for his birthday (and because I use his boat alot too grin.gif). Ideally I would like to get three on it, two towards the back and one up by the stearing console. Does anyone have any suggestions on brands/kinds of rodholders, and more importantly, where and how to mount them? Thanks in advance. JH

You're not going to get many replies with that Packer's Helmet on the page! grin.gif (kiddin') I would say Cabela's or Gandermountain would have something for you. If the sides don't have a flat area on top of them, You could get the clamp on ones. They are made for boats with this style. Otherwise, I would go with a flush mount. They are never in the way and won't get broke. I don't think a specific brand matters. You don't need to buy the most expensive kind out there, but get something strong and that has a tight swivel or locks. Go shopping, look at the different brands, and make your choice. I use Attwood Rod Holders, and they seem to stand up well. The best thing is the attwood rod holders only set me back about $13.00 a peice, better that $20-$30 for most other brands. The Rod holders are tough too. I catfish alot with circle hooks, and there's alot of stress when a fish is tuggin' on the line, but I haven't come close to breaking one yet. I bought my Attwood rod holders at Wal-Mart.

Oh Yah, GO VIKINGS. grin.gif

Ive got the same boat, just different motor. I have two of them in mine. I think they are Atwood brand and work fine. There may be better ones, I dont know. I mounted one in the back left side and one in the front right. I think I had to drill some holes in the wood for the base to sit down in. It was pretty easy. You can get them at most baitshops or sporting goods stores.

I have a couple of the Scotty ones on my boat. The ones with the Cabelas label are Scotty brand. They are really nice and the top locks so your rod doesn't go flying when you have a 30 lb cat running! You can get the Scotty ones at Gander too.

Green and Gold for the amount of fishing you do and the even lesser number of fish you catch in that boat you could just use some old packer can huggy's! grin.gif

Really though since you arent really going to put them threw a big work out like trolling DD's are downrigging you have tons of options. Scottys are easily found around here and Atwaters are good. I prefer Rams but they are pricey. Check Cabelas but try Russ 1st.
