mncarphntr
I agree, if done right smoked carp looks and tastes similar to smoked ham. I also substitute smoked carp for tuna in tuna casserole and tuna salad for sandwiches, its very good!
almostthere!
Take your carp and bake or grill it until done. Seperate the meat from the bones. Chop the meat up until nice and fine. Chop up some scallions, cilantros, mint, and basils (the more the merrier). Mince a couple of lemongrass stalks (soft inner stalks only). Put the meat in a bowl and mix in a cup rice powder (your local asian store). Season with fish sauce to liking and add the minced lemongrass. Finally, stir in your herbs. There are variations of this dish. Try different amounts of ingredients until you like the taste.
Muddog
I think the Germans that gave us the Carp would mix it with other thing like mashed Potatos. Carp has a strong fish taste so it works well to add taste to fillers. Fish patties of bread, onions and Herbs would work well ( Carp meatloaf ). The Grebe
If a person is leery of eating something like a Walleye, because of mercury and/or pcb's, a Carp would give you the business! All that mud sucking on the bottom and scum sucking on the top...that really is'nt very appetizing. One bite and I bet you would look like a glow stick!
