This company has been around for 30 years and has seen countless trends come and go. And as always, they stay abreast of the demands of the fisherman. They are a remarkable enterprize!

When you go to Jrs and ask for ice fishing lures and equipment, you are treated to an outstanding selection that does not require a major loan.

Salmon on your mind? They have you covered there with an array of bladebaits for trolling, flies for trolling, dipsies, rods, reels, terminal tackle....no sweat.

Waldos sound good for dinner tonight? You'll find the jigs, the cranks, colored hooks, slip floats....all under one roof.

Bass, northern, or muskie....no body is left out here. Panfish as well.

And just whenit seemed as though they could not get any better, they hop on board an entirely new prospect...one that is certain to be a winner.

Look for announcements regarding this new adventure beginning sometime in May. Maybe even a little earlier.

Lynno62-

They have a store, it might be a trip for you though. Take Hwy 169 North(Brooklyn Park). Take the next right after you cross County Road 81, I believe it is 85th or Cty Rd 109. Take the immediate left, and head north. From there I can't be to specific, it is probably the 2nd or 3rd left from there. When you kind of hit a curve/driveway enterance on the left hand side, follow it around the front of it and to the South end of the building. Tah Dah, you are there.

Nice little shop, and they are helpful indeed.

Take care- RR4

Lynn....Just follow the directions from the other poster and after taking the east bound turn on 85th, you go up two lights and take a left. Go about six blocks to Zealand and take a left. Afterabout a block you will have to go either right or left or go into a parking area. Go into the parking are and follow along the building all the way to the back...you will have to veer to the left again....and JRs is all the way to the end.

The new stuff will be in the store first so if you are looking, go there or try their internet service ( a bit slow).

JR's are pretty much my go to lure all winter. Their crushers are my favorite ice fishing lure. I know I have caught more fish on these than anything else in my box. They also have several other great lures that I have had good luck with.

No doubt about it, the Crusher catches fish! I know a lot of guys who work wonders on LOW with the Crusher. An outstanding spoon...

Crusher

I also like the Flasher. It provides a lot of flash, vibration and noise when aggressively jigged. An excellent searching and triggering lure for walleyes, bass, pike, trout and catfish...

Funny you bring up the flasher as your go to lure Northlander- Mine to for catfish on the shoe'!

If you get a chance to get up to the north Metro, definately take a detour over to JR's tackle- what a shop! I had the chance to meet Joel and his staff this past winter. Lots of deals and gear in there!!

Even had a number of guys come in and tell me certain lures and spots on area lakes to try- cool.gif

    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor,  wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat?  Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke  Mariner motor)  I will appreciate any help with these questions.
    • Sketti...  not out of a jar either!
    • Lol yeah I watched that
